Good question. Some explanations offered include higher customer acquisition costs, higher permitting costs, including local governments and utility bureaucracies, higher labor costs and higher profit margins.

Escalating electricity bills are a big incentive to install solar. Now, can US distributed solar cut its costs to the levels in Europe or Australia? If it can, the economics of installing distributed solar in US will remain attractive, even without federal tax credits.

China is building more new nuclear units than any nation. It has about half of the world's nuclear units that are currently under construction. Its nuclear generation is barely keeping up with electricity growth. If any nation can reduce new nuclear costs, it is China. So far, not encouraging.

The Nissan Leaf is an example of EVs getting much better and cheaper. EVs are skyrocketing globally because of their longer ranges, faster charging performance, better batteries and falling cost. ICE autos are declining globally, because they are losing the competition with EVs. #energysky.

New York and other Blue states can pursue true energy abundance by accelerating solar, wind and battery deployment. They can do so by removing obstacles to solar, wind and storage development and continuing to use state law/policy and purchases like NYPA's to accelerate deployment. #energysky
