This idea that something that people use as a word is not a word puzzles me. Seems a bit snooty (if that’s still a word) to me.

I never had any ‘trouble’ with it in practice. I was an early adopter and had curated incoming hard from the start. So I enjoyed the experience on the whole, and I had lots of like minded friends, who I still miss. I just couldn’t be doing with Musk. I don’t think I was wrong about that.

"Blueskyism" helped make The Onion one of the largest newspapers in the world in less than a year. If we had spent all of our time on Twitter, we'd be poorer, dumber and terminally ill with internet poisoning. He's just angry he's wasting away over there in a nazi agnostic lane that doesn't exist.
Blueskyism led me to something approximating making a good hunk of my living through Kickstarter by writing and publishing books, as Bluesky folks dramatically outperform Twitter (Mastodon folks are *danged better, too*) for backing projects and buying books.
As good of a takedown as I have ever seen.
Certain media types hate this place because, while they of course also get treated like shit on twitter, only like 1% of people on twitter even know who the fuck they are. But on here every single user knows them and despises them

For everyone claiming hotels have to close to 'normal' guests due to asylum seekers, Court of Appeal says "Bell Hotel had been in decline for some years". Years ago, owners sought planning permission for partial demolition and for the remaining part to be a care home. In 2020, the hotel closed.

It seems relevant to ask why it is said to be important to leave the ECHR. I can get to ‘so we can abuse the rights of asylum seekers’; or ‘so we can abuse the rights of immigrants’; or ‘so we can abuse everybody’s rights’. Not the most attractive proposition.

Both the Lucy Connolly and the Epping hotel cases have now taken on a political-media existence of their own, unconnected with what actually happened in court. It doesn't matter there were published sentencing remarks in one and a judge-prepared summary in the other. People want stories instead.

The UK press and media is entirely focussed on whipping up these ‘protests’ by a few hundred racists. They are not interested in publishing responses to it, or in reporting that context-protests have been twice and 3 times the size. They love the drama too much.
