As a Canadian living in a hilly town in a snowbelt region, I will say that if someone is going too slow, you sometimes cannot get enough momentum to get up snow-covered hills. BUT that is really only an issue when people are going well below the speed limit (like 20 km/h -- about 10 miles).

Yes, for sure. She would have made a different decision if she was making the decision now, even though academically this was the best option for her. There is now a whole extra layer of stress to studying in the U.S.
A family friend has been doing her doctorate at an American university since September. She is nervous about coming back home for Easter -- it no longer feels certain that she will be allowed back into the U.S. to continue her studies. Also not sure if grant funding for her program will continue.

Yes. I have supported almost every one of Trudeau's major decisions over the last 10 years - including his decision to resign. Reality was that he was unlikely to lead the Liberal Party to victory this time. I appreciate that he recognized this.
Yet, I see social media posts (including from a cousin) that talk about how Zelenskyy was acting "like an ingrate" and "threw a tantrum". So now I am equally disturbed by what happened there and that we are so far apart in our interpretation of the same event. I probably shouldn't be surprised but..
