Where did it happen?
BodhiCreole (@kshahyd.bsky.social) reply parent
A pro-democracy movement can't just be anti-trump. We have to present an agenda for making our democracy work and protecting it from elite capture. Its not enough to be anti-trump. We have to be pro-democracy. nextcity.org/urbanist-new...
BodhiCreole (@kshahyd.bsky.social) reply parent
Dems must understand that responding to Trump must be about more than pointing out how bad he is or how anti-democratic he is. The Dems must put forward a reform agenda for rebuilding democracy and it must start in the spaces they still control, in major cities and blue states.
BodhiCreole (@kshahyd.bsky.social) reply parent
Democratic reforms we can model at the local level that we eventually want to see at the federal level. Each local event, especially in cities with democratic mayors, in states with democratic governors should articulate demands for localized, systemic democratic reforms.
BodhiCreole (@kshahyd.bsky.social) reply parent
Sure... but we should also be pushing Bowser and the DC City Council to adopt real democratic reforms like proportional representation, participatory budgeting, automatic voter registration, voting holidays and publicly funded elections.
BodhiCreole (@kshahyd.bsky.social)
@freedcproject.bsky.social We need to be more than anti-trump. We have to articulate and demand an agenda for reforming our democratic system. It's easy to point to the external enemy. DC needs local control, DC needs to become a state.
