It should go without saying - but won't - that "massive amounts of drugs" is not, without a lot more, a recognized justification for the use of lethal force under international law.

Here's the video Trump just posted to Truth Social, with the claim that 11 people aboard the boat were killed. There is zero evidence of self-defense here. Looks like a massacre of civilians at sea. Even if they had drugs aboard, that's not a capital offense.

This editorial should be seen as manufacturing consent for Trump's military occupation of Chicago. The paper will insist that's not the goal, and I don't necessarily think they support a military occupation (though I don't think they'd oppose it), but that is the editorial's actual effect.
