I've voted Blue every election starting 2004 (when I became able). I even voted for Harris, despite my hatred for her (she spent a large part of her career putting my sisters in prison with men). If the party nominates someone who is actively campaigning on adopting MAGA rhetoric about me, it ends.

What were we distracted by? The adoption of MAGA positions toward my community by my party poses an existential threat to me and those like me.
Then it's weird that you were treating the MAGA position, or even Newsom's, as reasonable. They're all under the illusion that it's VERY easy, and that it includes surgeries for kids. Nobody is viable for bottom surgery before 18, or top surgery before 16, barring some very weird edge cases.

Most of the competing beliefs and interpretations I'm aware of, from the cis community, treat being trans as an undesirable outcome to be avoided at all costs. I'm not sympathetic to being viewed as an abomination to be eradicated (or at least minimized).
I have a vested interest, as a person whose life was destroyed by being forced through natal puberty without even the knowledge that anything better was possible, to prevent future generations from undergoing those changes and experiencing enough distress to spend all of school dissociating.
Child development? Was there anything in those classes about the traumatic results of being forced to deny yourself and live as the wrong gender until adulthood? How about the long-term effects of body horror as you watch yourself change in ways that are inimical to your mental health?
