I am an utterly consistent #VoteBlueNoMatterWho voter, to the left of Bernie sanders in policy, but with Hillary Clinton when it comes to working together. Republicans are in control because despite many defeats they band together and keep showing up. Too many progressives undermine themselves.
This takes time and sticking together despite some disagreements and sticking it out for multiple elections. Half the things on here are things we got because we couldn’t get it together when the stakes were smaller. The meme wants to undo forty years of policy that happened on our watch.
I like a lot of this. But the left is too impatient. It took the far right FOUR DECADES to get to project 2025. And much of the reason we are here is too many in our left flank have no staying power, or get distracted by right wing talking points, or splinter off to third parties.
Yes. An important way to limit police brutality is to make them identifiable. Too many police forces are fade to militarized, but a secret police is dangerous.

Yeah, until it’s too late. It’s so hard trying to reach these people, and I’m afraid “I told you so” will only make them dig in their heels more. We need to reach out to everyone we can, but it’s the people on the fence who might be the most reachable. The people who put aside their worries.
When decent people read this they are horrified at his frank racism. his supporters are also racist, and agree with this - whether they admit it or not. To them it’s not racism - it’s “common sense.” stripped of critical race theory, we can’t explain the systemic problem without inducing blame.
Charlie Kirk was a racist. And that makes it exceedingly unlikely his family, friends, and supporters are not. It’s part of why it’s so hard to get through to them about why his remarks were so hurtful and damaging - they agree with him.
Objectionable or critical speech is the speech that most needs first amendment protection.

Jimmy Kimmel is suspended for a joke that didn't even remotely suggest harm to anyone. Brian Kilmeade pushed Nazi euthanasia program Aktion T4 on national television with his "involuntary euthanasia" of the homeless. His echo of Nazi language and ideology was unmistakable. Yet he's still on FOX.

I talked on MSNBC today about the corruption playing out at the FCC. This isn't just about Jimmy Kimmel being silenced. The FCC is planning to change the rules to allow the company that shut down Kimmel to have a monopoly-like stake in local TV ownership.
I am also told that writing a pen and paper letter is important, and that one paper letter might get more attention than 10,000 social media comments.

Oh, that night make my head explode!!! But I’m glad Carlson is speaking out. The right will dismiss people like me out of hand, no matter how reasonable we try to be. But Carlson will reach a lot of right wingers, and may make them think twice.

Obama gets the first clue that maybe he should have fought harder for Merrick Garland, and not just been so complacent about Hillary Clinton. He thought his Horatio Alger story would apply to everyone. He was and is wrong. I admire his optimism. But it blinded him to evil and duplicity.

In not defending him. Physician here myself - EM/Critical Care. Physicians like Paul annoy me because they use their MD to get cred in areas they know nothing about, and they in turn damage the credibility of the real experts.
This is what happened in AZ with kyrsten Sinema. We worked so hard to get her into office, and republicans bought her, and she turned on us. She and Joe Manchin torpedoes Build Back Better. Biden did a lot, but could have done much more without those two corrupt hacks.
Deferment is tiresome, and sadly not that bright. Most autocrats are democratically elected at first. Less often do they actually corrupt elections - more often they ride a populist wave. Once elected, they do what Trump has been doing - purge career officials, hire sycophants, attack the press.

She's better off. I used to so admire that paper. I subscribed and wanted to support them when they told the truth. But under Bezos they wouldn't endorse Kamala Harris, on direct orders from him. I unsubscribed that day. I honestly don't know why she waited to long. The paper is trash now.

When Garland was appointed we were in a brief window where it seemed Republicans had woken up from their trance. In many ways Garland was no different from Michelle Obama, with her “When They Go Lie We Go high.” These people’s greatest failing was believing in decency.
We need to stop wailing on Garland so much. Especially when he appointed Jack Smith and then scotus hamstrung him for an entire year. Might Garland have been more aggressive. Perhaps. I think he underestimated the depths Trump had led the GOP to.
In general, I think very highly of fani willis. But if there’s any hope of prosecuting this case, if she were still on it it would be completely undermined. Democrats stop don’t get how amoral and vicious and ruthless the GOP actually is.
So unfortunate. But I’m not convinced it’s the wrong decision. I don’t think Willis did anything wrong. But she did not “avoid the appearance of impropriety.” In such a contentious time, she undermined her own authority, and destroyed one of the most significant opportunities for accountability

As always, the truth is somewhere in the middle. Libel, slander, defamation, incitement, direct threats of violence, intimidation of witnesses, perjury - these are not protected. They are crimes against persons. But being a hateful twerp in general is protected, and why Kirk was never jailed.
