I think they will take a percentage of the gate money and the TV money. If you allow more entrants, then you have more games and more revenue. The point about Eastern European teams means we now have 11 (?) more nation states than in 1990. Some have great teams - Croatia the most obvious 1
Lee Taylor (@leetaylorbythesea.bsky.social) reply parent
As the Vietcong won, he should be wearing Vietnamese garb, and it's not a film about the USA's 'greatness'
Lee Taylor (@leetaylorbythesea.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, exactly the same. There is no sense of jeopardy, which is a big part of the emotional pull. The Balkanization of parts of Europe also mean we have more nations, but weaker teams. Principalities - not convinced they should be a part of it, but it's more filthy lucre for UEFA/FIFA

Cancer research have stated since at least 2015 that one in two people (born from 1960 onwards) will contract cancer. I find it remarkable that people even report on this man, and many other cranks that feature in modern life.

Your weekly reminder that voter "concern" with immigration doesn't correspond to actual immigration levels. It corresponds to the amount of coverage the media gives immigration. This an entirely self-fulfilling mess, and it is entirely pointless.

I think dogmatism takes many forms and that Starmer's bureaucratic managerialism is one form of dogma. Actually, I take his palpable vacuity as evidence of that. This is not a man who analyses or thinks. He definitely "believes" in things, in that he takes certain ways of doing things for granted

Less than 100 years ago Hitler rose to power. In the UK we are frequently taught about how fascism came about. The BBC has a series called "The rise of the Nazis", and yet so many of those lessons are being thrown on the bonfire. The German establishment thought they could control Hitler, WRONG
Lee Taylor (@leetaylorbythesea.bsky.social) reply parent
but there is a growing sense that he needs to win something this year, and getting it other the line is not quite there (I am a Liverpool fan)

There is sense in that, I feel that the I am more inclined to agree with the view Arsenal could have taken more chances. Konate & Kerkez had 2 poor games, there's been more significant change in the LFC team, and this was an opportunity to take the game to them. Arteta has done very well 1
