That's why I wrote "greek speaking". Indeed under the Ottoman Empire there was a mix of different cultures and religions but that was after the fall of the Roman Empire in the East. Unfortunately after the 1st World War it all changed. It's complicated but you can read about it in history books.

St George was in all probability a greek speaking Roman who was born in the Roman province of Cappadocia which is in modern day Turkey. The people we know of as Turkish today arrived in the area after the fall of the Roman empire. Farage is still a nasty little racist though.

Just to add in this country we tend to avoid towns and cities when planning a bike ride. However in the Netherlands the countryside is a bit flat and samey but they have some lovely urban areas that are a delight to ride through.

It's strange that it's ok for some and not others. We use it through the fire stick and tablet and 90% of the time it's fine. I think the annoying thing is when it crashes you have to go back to the beginning of the programme. When iPlayer crashes it restarts where you lost it.

I agree about the layout. There are certain conditions that have to be met for the roads to be adopted by the local authority but since the Thatcher reforms of the 1980s developers have the upper hand about what they want to build. The planners can't just reject something they don't like.
