Utter BS from Tice!! I have just spent 3 years in litigation with my local authority which unlawfully ceased my son's EHCP & all educational provision - deemed him not capable of learning. We won but my son has missed 3 years of education. Tell me how we are "hijacking" the system??!!

I honestly don't think it would make a lot of difference. They'd have to meet every single refugee from anywhere ever - even then they'd probably say "yeah, but... ." Similar rhetoric is applied against disabled children and adults seen to be getting "free cars." Facts don't interest them.

I don't recall them being particularly happy about asylum seekers before the govt started using hotels. Once the hotel issue is resolved it will be something else. And even if every asylum seeker is removed, they will start on other people who aren't white. Then disabled and queer people ...

What has changed in the UK psyche since the Vietnamese boat people were welcomed here in the 70s & 80s? People my age remember sending milk bottle tops in to Blue Peter to raise funds for Cambodia, Vietnam, Ethiopia. Even Mrs Thatcher agreed to resettle 10 000 Vietnamese refugees here in 1980.

I agree that the particular facts of this case have swayed the decision. Judicial disapproval of a litigant is not a reason to interpret the law so as to penalise that person, particularly as that interpretation is going to impact subsequent litigants (who the court may view as more deserving).

It would have to be something much more specific to be successful, eg "If you do this course, you will be a CEO of a major corporation by the age of 30." Even then, it would probably be seen as mere puffery as nobody reasonable would actually believe such a claim.
