There is a lot of debris around this and it is the "stamper" for a gold mine. Ore would be fed in the top and then it would be crushed by smaller and smaller hammers until the gold dust would be left. It wasn't moved and now has National Park service signs which guide you on the 3.2 mile walk.

This was described in "Ghost Towns of Kansas" and I drove there to take a look!
At an abandoned concrete plant in the tiny town of Mildred, Kansas, there was a building which supplied sand to carts which moved below this level. When it closed in 1932, trees grew in the sand and it become the world's largest terrarium. 🫣 #Photography #Abandoned #Kansas #Concrete

I was viewing the sunflower field and found the eclipse glasses on the ground. There had been an eclipse about 5 months earlier. I put them on the sunflower. It was a natural!

Once I was at an abandoned cement factory and I was on a concrete slab and I set up a shot on a tripod. There was some sheets of plywood scattered about. I stood on one and set up the shot when I found myself falling through the plywood which was covering a tunnel. I did crack my ankle.

I can't think of who may have brought in the paint can. It was weird seeing it there but I was hypnotized by the upside down snowman and didn't touch it. I'm sure that it was deserted in the late 40s. This blue room is upstairs and right above the snowman room.
I think it is a thin wash of a paint filter I put on the image. Here is another view of the room. I've documented this town quite often in the past. I would never post an AI image as one of my works. I've no idea if the paint has sat there all these decades...

This was such a wonderful house. I understand it belonged to a great uncle who was a banker before the bank failed in the early 1930s.
There was a number of environmental problems - both fires and tornados. Businesses moved to towns which were about 30 miles away and people followed them. I've got historical photos of the community church as well as photos of its fallen walls!
Yes, many buildings are long gone sadly. Here is the blacksmith shop a few years ago....
This town suffered several major fires during the 1930s and it was never in a thriving area. By 1948, it had no food or gas closer than 25 miles. The last family then left. My mother lived there when little.

Yes, although the smaller pterodactyles with tales were known from Europe, the Niobrara chalk beds held the first of the pteronodons. These were larger creatures which could fly without the tail. Now much larger flying creatures have been found!

These Wetlands are loved and protected. I've seen far more waste in places like Key West and Laguna Beach. We must find a way of dealing with the plastic waste in all ways!
