This is spot on. There are bell weather issues-minimum wage, civil rights, money in politics, health care, military spending and education. Clinton increased incarceration of Black Americans, ushered in neoliberal policies, anti-immigration policies, welfare reform and helped lay ground for Trump.

These jobs are risky, multi-faceted have huge amounts emotional labor and they do not pay well. The women who work these jobs who are married to men often do not feel supported emotionally or have an equal partnership when it comes to domestic labor. We need a care revolution.
I know! Female coded jobs have now also become first responder job due to increased gun violence-teachers, flight attendants and nurses must now intervene to protect people in their care. Home care workers are at high risk for injury. Social workers have an onslaught of secondary trauma.
The impact of Covid was gendered-nurses, nursing home workers, teachers, day care workers all were expected to bear the brunt of illness while caring for their own children during school closures. The system rests on womenās backs and their distress and well being isnāt valued.
Covid was bad for kids, teachers and parents-especially moms. School closures were better for health and abysmal for mental health. The stress mothers were under while schools were closed was unreal and yet most prefer to keep their families and others safe.

Victims must live in the minds of abusers so they are not always able to assess abusive situations accurately. Downplaying abuse is a survival mechanism. What if there was no gate keeping for DV resources? Imagine.
It sounds like the screening tool is used to prevent women from getting DV support. My understanding is that perpetrators vary the degree and tools of domination regularly depending on the resistance of the victim. This could happen daily.

The Ash Center has been warning that democracy is slipping away for years. In February we crossed the line. Task Force Butler defines fascism as a regime that worships power, uses violence to maintain control, insists on absolute loyalty and rests on grievance as its justification.

This is a way of literally taking power out of the hands of utilities and thumbing our noses at the evil GOP and climate deniers. This change could happen very fast. Legislation in Maryland can be adopted in other states like Virginia once Spanberger is governor.
We can make lemonade out of lemons. States that pass legislation to fast track residential solar permits can significantly reduce costs making solar so affordable itās a no brainer. Also EVs with car to grid capacity have arrived so your car can act as battery storage for your home.
It depends on your state. Prices are rising in Virginia because of data center consumption. In Loudoun County it was local Dems who gave tax breaks to these data centers owned by Amazon, google and Microsoft and did not require environmental oversight.
Dems need to stop being reactive and anticipate that every Republican governor will do this.
Federal workers have been under unimaginable pressure. Itās the publicās job to protect them and not enough people are standing up for for them.
We need a union of care workers founded on feminist principles of equality. If this union included paid and unpaid care workers it would be so large it would bring the oligarchs to their knees.
It has colonialist roots. If other humans and the natural world exist for the exploitation of a few wealthy men, it seems for them as if the resource is infinite. Now these men are techno fascists like Thiel who believe they cannot die. What is limitless is their greed.
This is the case in many relationships and families. People do not feel they can leave. Women believe they must be contortionists in order to keep the family āhappyā. This environment is a training ground for other environments which are unjust and normalizes the unacceptable.
Teachers are also worried about their students. I think there will be some informal safety coaching happening in DCPS.

Academics who study the far right know domination politics and economic models like neoliberalism are designed to be on the backs of women. The exploitation of womenās labor is normalized in the family. We need all women who do care work paid or unpaid to unionize and bring misogyny to its knees.

DV research focuses is on physical violence and felony charges. Financial duress increases feelings of helplessness and a likely need to increase control elsewhere. Coercive control is a subset of DV which is primarily perpetrated by men. Emma Katz has a substack with great info.

Here is an analogy-my hand are small so many power tools are not made for me-they are designed for menās hands. AI is the same. Probably well off Silicon Valley men. Itās modeled on them and centers their experience of the world.
The UN sees gender bias as an issue in AI because of who develops AI and the type of data (models) it is trained on-predominantly male. This isnāt my area of expertise but it made me think of clinical trials but itās a reality women experience in lots of-a world that isnāt built for them.

I live in the country and now avoid the local listserv like the plague. There is very little crime here but massive amounts of paranoia. The right wing media has created an atmosphere of fear much like stranger danger did in the 80ās.

According to Erica Chenoweth, there have been three times as many non-violent protests at the beginning of this Trump administration than the last one. We are making ground. Pay close attention to DCāthis administration wildly underestimates our capacity to push back.

DC is solidly progressive and a key characteristic is that people are very responsible. Voting for Trump was understood to be an irresponsible move in the DMV. The last Trump administration hit DC very hard. We didnāt forget.
