Late last night DeSantis state employees painted over a large street mural "Black History Matters" in front of the Carter G. Woodson African American History museum in St. Pete. it's been there for several years with state approval. All our beautiful street murals are being destroyed.

In a retirement community (one-story, no tower, garden) on west coast FL & the monarchs are so plentiful that 2 of them bumped into me!! while competing with each other for airspace. I can usually see several by looking out my window. We have milkweed & we have beehive boxes too. Paradise.

Growing up in coastal FL in the '50s meant beach or fishing with family on Sunday. Bike rides, roller skating, reading. Weekdays after homework: badminton in the back yard, flashlight hide & seek after dark, then board games. Great neighbors. No TV 'til age 14; never bored.

My daughters' grandfather was born here of Italian immigrants in the first decade of the 20th C. He was taken back to Italy to be baptized when he was 3. I have the paperwork. I wonder if that confers special status for them over there. Since that election my dtrs. hope so.

'Citrus greening... is a bacterial disease that infects citrus plants. It's one of the most serious citrus diseases in the world." It has even killed orange trees in neighborhood yards far from commercial groves. Several other citrus varieties too. Univ. of FL is exploring fixes.

I live in FL, have all my long life, and I don't think there are many Florida oranges in my grocery store juice any more. Most groves were wiped out in the past 10 years by citrus greening. I'm probably drinking Brazilian juice too.

I remember seeing a film of events in Stalinist USSR several years ago in which a large hall full of govt reps was about 1/3 cleared in a purge of his suspected "enemies." Their faces were scraped off existing photos. This seems similar.
