Also, Paul, thank you for caring about encampments, housing crises, and the complexities of securing homes for people. And for not being cynical, just frustrated and realistic. I've seen encampments handled well and also poorly. Let's hope the task force in CA learns from their past attempts.

Well, all I can say is that I saw compassionate enforcement of laws on a daily basis for 24+ years. I'm a left-wing, art maj., single mom, right brained, progressive Dem. who worked in investigations and community health in support roles, in Law enf. I lived what you doubt exists.

The Boundaries are the laws and ordinances of cities/states that do not allow camping on specific properties. Compassion is how the enforcement is applied.

I am not stupid. I worked in Community Health and Safety for 24 years. I've seen compassion in action regarding the issues surrounding homelessness.
In Seattle we used to have Navigation teams to come alongside encampment to help re house people. It was a compassionate way to actually help people. I Lynnwood Washington they "clear encampments" in similar and compassionate ways.
