And agreed with you, ebikers are not perfect and I totally agree they can be more dangerous. I think everyone just wants it to be as safe as possible for everyone. Just in my experience, e-bikers get shit on way more for doing the same as manual bikers, so perhaps there’s a chip on my shoulder
I think I’m speaking more for my area. I live in a very mountainous terrain with lots of bikers and lots of downhills. Here, we have issues with bikers not signaling on downhills and causing accidents. There are countless reports of it.
100%- I actually asked if there were any ebike/bike safety courses to take in my area when I bought mine (there aren’t) and have been advocating to our city council here to require the courses after purchase. Maybe like a ‘license’ to ride a bike for an ebike rebate we offer here
I also used to be a manual biker until an injury and am very grateful to have an ebike so I can still do what I enjoy. I held the same opinion when I just rode manual bikes
I mean, going downhill fast on a manual doesn’t require much skill but that’s semantics. In my experience, skilled or not, both bikers give bikers a bad name and everyone should slow down for pedestrians and signal. My experience has been that manual bikers do that far less 🤷🏼♀️

I agree with you completely. There are so many amazing advantages to having e-bikes from accessibility for older people to less emissions.
So how will e-bikers gain the same experience and handling if we are constantly looked down upon as ‘less than’ those on manual bikes? I’ve been riding my ebike for 5 years now and I am extremely skilled at handling it. I think there are unskilled bikers on both sides of the equation.
Completely disagree and have encountered a completely different experience. We are extremely cautious on our e-bikes knowing how against them people are. Manual bikers rarely slow down for pedistrians or signal they are passing. We all share different experiences
This is the entire thing. We get screamed at on trails when we go 15MPH as we get literally dusted by the ‘althetes’ on manual bikes and no one says a thing to them. Is it because the ebike makes slightly more noise?
