It's #deafawarenessmonth I'm Deaf, hard-of-hearing since birth. I have had hearing aids since I was five years old. It's very much who I am and those who know me know I don't tiptoe around it. I enjoy being deaf. On my days off, I do not put my hearing aids until afternoon. It's peaceful.

I think there's an interpretation there that what people are reacting so strongly to could be what we'd now recognise as the uncanny valley effect
the interesting thing is that when Victor describes the Creature, he specifically talks about it as an assemblage of individual characteristics that can be considered beautiful in isolation, and that beauty was his reason for selecting them, but the beautiful parts make a whole he finds repellant
