I suspect you’re right. Democrats are really having trouble finding a coherent voice. But the media is a huge part of the problem. Perhaps democrats aren’t that silent. Perhaps the billionaire controlled media just won’t report their words or actions.

Even if he wins the leadership battle he will lose to the incumbent Carney in the next election. Carney’s track record to date is also very conservative. Many conservatives love him. As such he will never get my vote again. My apologies to the NDP.

Corporations are, of course, essential. But paying their employees properly and treating them with respect and valuing their contributions to corporate goals is also essential. NDP govt’s may engage with bad employers sometimes just like L’s & C’s but doesn’t mean they write anti-worker labour laws.

if he survives the January leadership review, which I suspect he will, Poilievre will surely not be able to overcome Carney in an election now that Carney has a track record and incumbency. What’s more, that track record reads like a conservative shopping list. Poilievre is out next election.

Liberals and Conservatives are corporate parties. There is only one party in Canada that understands the working and middle class struggles that plague a seriously broken capitalist system, the NDP. Corporations are well taken care of by Libs & Cons. For the NDP, people matter more.

By the late 70’s, I could see that if you scratch the surface of a conservative, you find a fascist. Their hatred of virtually anyone who got in the way of more profits going to the top economic tier was palpable. It was always just under the surface. Now they are allowed to hate out loud every day.

I believe Australia has proportional representation and mandatory voting, and Election Day is a holiday with barbecue parties at many polling sites. No doubt conservatives there try to suppress votes but it’s much harder when democracy is so transparent, open and welcoming.

As Jobs minister you would think that she’d be aware of the issues the people with the “jobs” had with mgm’t who created the issues. She now seems amazed that employees were forced to work without pay. She should have known that.
Canada can, and just did, elect a minority govt with a 3rd or 4th party holding the balance of power to force concessions. The NDP used that well last session as did the CCF before them. Without proportional representation minority govt’s with the NDP holding balance of power is the next best thing.

The 7 member NDP is the real official opposition against two conservative parties. Liberals may as well change their name to progressive conservative. Although there is nothing progressive about them.

The Liberals are the new Progressive Conservatives. Liberal party has vanished under Mark Carney. The NDP is the only real alternative now.
Mark Carney is a typical progressive conservative and he overcame a 25 point lead the fascist conservatives had and won government under a liberal banner. This proves that extreme right conservatism fails. Poilievre will never win.
Public health care in Canada should never be left up to conservatives. They are ideologically opposed to public healthcare and work relentlessly to convert it to private profit motivated healthcare. It’s all about making profits, not about serving and healing sick people at all income levels.
The NDP have a great opportunity as they wait to get a new leader. The two main parties are both conservative anti-worker parties. Mark Carney has made sure of that. There is a huge void to fill for the NDP.

It is an ironic truth that to save democracy you have to subvert democratic principles to ensure the survival of democracy against the enemies of democracy. Do whatever it takes to win power and then make treason seriously illegal. Fascists are traitors who should be exiled for life.
