Yeah the writing is a tad awkward and lacks context. I guess point being that some only equip themselves with false ideology and others have to defend themselves from real bombs etc. Plus that "anti-militarist" sentiment is only evoked towards countries that are *supposedly* supported by the West.

I've been thinking about this case a lot ever since I've heard of it yesterday. A horrific perfect storm of fragmentation of society, loneliness, folk's desperation for money turning into this, the fact this platform is made by casino owners. More is production dictates the form, for sure. Awful.
Like, literally the secret is that that's how taste is formed. We can not like it, critique it, lie to ourselves that we / society only likes things organically, but in an industry - that's just not the case!
People are outraged over this etc, but it IS a games INDUSTRY after all, not games pals, not games crafts. Marketing is a huge part of it!

Found out the Spanish translation of my book costs a whopping $10 more in Chile than in neighbouring Argentina. Apparently due to taxes. I was amazed. I'm very pro everyone paying into the tax system, but when it comes to books, feels like literally the one thing that ought to be tax-free.

Idk, I've read analysis that sadly money still very much sits in oil and other dug out stuff ie green technologies will never actually be THAT expensive, you see, so harder to speculate with. But falling behind even re: tech is so so real.
Around 1980 when I was a journalist on the Times I spent a while going round China by train. It was an awful, unreliable, incredibly slow experience. We seem to have changed places with them over four decades.
