We do this because speed limits are arbitrary. The safe speed on any patch of road varies by: vehicle, weather, traffic, driver ability and alertness, lighting, etc. That's why police and courts have discretion. Sometimes 20 over is safe, sometimes 20 under is dangerous.

I'm torn on this advice. Some of my all time favourite reads (and movies) are ones that it took me two, three, or more attempts to get into, and some of those I actively *hated* for the majority of the book before they were redeemed by a big payoff.

Don't know if it is climate or politics, but I have never seen anywhere near the number of reverse snowbirds visiting my touristy little Ontario town from southern US states as I'm seeing this year. Border state visits are down a bit, but southern state visits are off the chart up.

It's hard to feel safer when you already felt super safe, so perceptions of change *can* really only skew negative for the majority. That those who feel less safe skew so strongly to one political ideology is the telling part of that story, not the overall stats (which are in fact positive).

Canadian retailers responded instantly to the Buy Canadian sentiment and overnight began marking Canadian products on shelves. Many helpful customers invert US products on shelves to save others time in checking. That said, Canucks are mad about more than just tariffs, so YMMV.

Sounds great, but good luck trying to find rooms/campsites. The post-lockdown travel boom had already made vacancies rare and more than doubled their cost, add US boycotters and a lot of folks are going to be either priced out of Cdn vacays or unable to find accommodations at any price.

Tyranny of the minority "can" happen here, but due to how we elect our Commons, not Senate selection. While technically legislative, our Senate acts more like a quasi-judicial backstop if things get too stupid elsewhere. It's pretty benign, with very limited powers compared to US Senate.

The Senate protects "regions" from tyranny of the majority. The imbalance isn't a flaw, it's a feature to protect areas of low pop from being abused by areas of large pop. Every democracy has some similar system to offset regional population imbalances. You would not want it otherwise.
