Half the population consumes no news. They're not being told anything. Before the election, Reuters had an article about a young woman who said she was better off in 2024 than in 2020, but rent & ground beef cost more, so she'd vote for Trump. When things people buy regularly go up, people notice.

I think liberalism is popular on its merits. The problem is that many people vote for reasons other than policy even if the policies benefit them.
