I have cataracts, so my vision right now is sub par. I squint at every piece of text anywhere. So, for me, having the text blown up to an absurd size is kinda nice. It also looks silly, pointless. As with everything else about the pre-T era, it was fine the way it was. Ain't broken. Don't fix.

Well, severely limited public transit would be a big one for visitors arriving by plane, train or bus in Phila, Pittsburgh and their suburbs.
This is extremely annoying for me and my family as SEPTA riders into Phila and throughout the suburbs. One thing that stands out is that suburbanites won't be able to take the train into CC to see plays, concerts, etc because you can't get home again. It's been difficult for a while, now hopeless.
Tried TJ's popcorn with chocolate and strawberries today for the first time. I'm glad I'm wearing shorts with an elastic waistband. They are a healthy part of any chocoholic's diet. (Too hot for blankets.) This popcorn is a good litmus test for how much self discipline you have. No bad answers.

For the rest of us who don't have the skill set to run for office, going to meetings is also helpful. Start with just one meeting of every group of elected officials who have open meetings. Study the issues. Listen to what the elected officials have to say. Work your way up to commenting.

All our utilities are going up 😡. I made a public comment via a phone call at a PUC hearing for Aqua. It was run by a judge. The whole PUC process is still a mystery to me but I'm glad I at least had a chance to voice my concerns. Which judges run the PUC? Can you interview one about the process?
Continuing on that theme, make a checklist: commish mtg, sch bd meeting, trial, fed trial, st reps & sens mtgs, the PUC. Watching the process makes you more aware of what the jobs entail. Do you know how many mtgs we can sit and observe? Next courageous step is make a public comment at a mtg.
Was thinking today we should all make an effort to attend one sch bd meeting, one commissioners' meeting to understand the process of governance. I know from sch bd meetings, it takes time to really get to know the sb members, their performance. Visit Harrisburg, too. Take the kids; make them aware.

Thing is, I read a sincere online review of their bar by a vet who went in for a visit. Said it was ok, but 90% of people drinking there ($10 yearly membership) were not vets and had no interest in veterans' issues. I think they so some support for vets, but mostly it's an all night bar for......?
I would love it if the only fireworks were the official, professional ones. Half an hour, that's it. Quite beautiful. It'll never happen, alas. The rest of the evening here is endless stream of fireworks by folks. It unnerves me and I'm not a vet, so I can well imagine how hard it is for them.
We live right next door to a VFW. Fireworks going off there, and Everywhere in our hood, in spite of twp ordinances. In fact, visitors to the VFW set off fireworks at random (quite loud ones) all thru the year. That and the bar (and drugs) are all bad for vets. VFW doesn't care. Weird disconnect.

Watched the whole interview--he absolutely shines. He asks, "What can I do to help?" and means it. You mentioned st rep, I thought, no, governor. BUT, then I thought, no, this is where he needs to be, boots on the ground, making fundamental changes and not "performative" gestures, for the masses.

I kind of agree on helping seniors live at home, but also know of so many tragic accidents. Not good enough to go in after the fact; too late. The vid was on Suttons Daze channel. You can hear the commenter's description of her situation. It's a conversation we need to have, widely.
That vid came on the day acquaintance of my DH died, alone. He was a volunteer at MOW and manager took the initiative to find out why he wasn't there to help. MOW is actually a good program for checking on seniors, not just giving out meals. As population ages, we need more programs like this.
