Wow.....that's a stunner π€© π
Wandering round Whassett with Jude & Alba (partner & dog) ....oh and a camera as well for snapping little scenes we come across. Retired and enjoying the peace & beauty all around us. More of this nonsense https://www.flickr.com/photos/34380862@N02/

Oh that's very kind of you!! It's a wonderful bay for photographers and you usually see more of them than birds! ππ
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
It was indeed Hazel....even the feeding birds were quiet!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers Christoph ππ

Thank you Courtney.....it's one of those places that draws you back and is different every time you visit!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
It was a difficult choice Sarah with the other images being so good.... but it's one I'd have on my wall which always helps!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
You're very welcome Paula; it's a beautiful piece of photographic art!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
#ShareMondays2025 I really struggled to pick a winner this week; I thought they were all wonderful images and I've had them all down as the winner at some point over the last few hours. But I have to pick one and I keep coming back to Paula's sunflower. Well done @iceniphoto.bsky.social

It's Tuesday so it's #ShareMondays2025 shortlist time. As usual it's a really difficult choice and I've narrowed my long list down to these 4 beauties! βͺ@sarahlonges.bsky.socialβ¬ βͺ@ianbarnesphotos.bsky.socialβ¬ βͺ@antjohnson.bsky.socialβ¬ βͺ@iceniphoto.bsky.socialβ¬ Winner later after a few more brews

Welcome back young man. I've missed your regular mono posts. What's the deal with the book? Is there a website to view or grab some info perhaps?
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
πππ blushing now!! Thank you!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
That's very kind of you Mike; thank you very much. It's a very popular place these days with tourists and photographers, but there's always something to capture, as conditions change so quickly.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Most kind of you again Christoph......thanks you very much indeed!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks very much....nature at its very best again.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers Em......that's the Lancashire air and water doing its thing ......sadly I don't think it will be like that today though!! π
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Happy to say my knees are fine....my back however is a different tale!! This looks a familiar location with beautiful clints and gryke in evidence. A nice place to settle!! π
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks ever so much Christoph, but as always it's nature doing all the hard work. We get the easy bit. πππ

many thanks Klaus
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent

Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
The pleasure will be all mine Klaus. Do you have a rough timescale for printing at this stage. I do appreciate that timings are often wildly inaccurate with things like this.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you very much Bruce. That's really kind of you to say. In truth I'm just snapping away at things I see as I wander around. But I'm glad you like some of them.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks ever so much David, it's been an interesting few days taking the camera down the allotment and looking for this kind of image. Really pleased that you and others liked this one too. Cheers.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
A cliche from Cleveleys. I took this over 10 years ago and I remember taking the 10 stop off the front. It was covered in spray and salt hence the misted look. I also didn't realise at the time how filthy the sensor was; it's just taken me 15 minutes or so to clean the image. Anyway "Mary's Shell"
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks ever so much Richard π
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers David....once again lots of great images this week to choose from!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
I'll have one of these Klaus....order submitted!! Looks fantastic!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Stunning in all respects. Beautiful work! πππ
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Ha ha and there I was thinking they were only in Jockland! π€ Actually I do remember being swarmed all over on the heather moors above Haworth on more than one occasion.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh go on then.....there might be one more!! You're making me blush Em!!βΊοΈππ
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
That's very kind Robynne; much appreciated!!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Many thanks Bob; simple comes naturally! ππ
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
beautiful little scene....looks quite local!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
#allotment I love the vibrant mess of the allotment in summer. Lots of untidy growth; weeds competing with veg and flowers. There's immaculate plots alongside overgrown wastelands. It's been a very good year for growers though with it being warm for so long early in the season.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks Nobleson.....that's most kind of you......I quite like the simple mono ones too.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks ever so much Rob.....the backlighting certainly helped lift the images when I went back.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
Last one! I promise! #polytunnel #allotment #gardening #blackandwhite #monochrome
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Change the plastic then Paula.....ππππ€£
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Very peaceful; beautiful and serene.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
beautiful sombre.....amazing to see how such a small element changes an image......it would be nothing without the small dead tree bottom left. Great composition!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Many thanks Paula; much appreciated......sometimes it's good to see things from a different viewpoint.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
simple, beautiful, wonderful
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks Damian...only slightly biased though!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers Sarah; thankfully there's not been many folk about as I wandered round the polytunnels.....what's that old bloke doing photographing plastic sheeting?! ππ·
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
thanks very much Geraldine; it's awash with dahlias down the allotment......a wonderful sight!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers David. It's a bit different from most of the plastic so gives a good alternative.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Many thanks π
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
#ShareMondays2025 another polytunnel with a great texture (almost fibre glass in look).....more dahlias in various state of bloom. #photography #bloomscrolling #flowers #gardening #allotment

Cheers Shaun, much appreciated!!

Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers Em.....it was even better this morning with the sun shining through
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks Tim
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
This guy has an amazing display on the allotment......been growing for 50 years apparently......his plot is just ablaze with colour. I've no idea how many different ones he has. www.facebook.com/jack.gott.12...
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
The plastic of the polytunnel helps soften everything......it's a stunning display when you look inside.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Aren't they just.....saw hardly anyone yesterday. That last pull up onto Randygill Top was a real steep one! They look nice and gentle from afar but they have a real kick!! Great to wander along the ridges though. I'll be back very soon.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
A mono version of dahlias yet to flower after just being watered. It was much brighter this morning with the sun streaming through the polytunnel and I had my camera rather than the phone. #dahlia #allotment #blackandwhite
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
You're very welcome Rob.....it's wonderful stuff!! I can imagine the pleasure you're getting from releasing this to the world after all these years of preparation. The love of the place really comes through in the writing and images.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Many thanks Damian.....I think I prefer this one myself.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers David, most kind of you!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
"It is the understanding that beauty lies not in perfection but in persistence. That a place is not defined by what it has, but by what it holds onto." More beautiful words and images from Rob.......give it a click and immerse yourself in the beauty of latches.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
I like the seam cutting across the image & the mainly monochrome feel. It's almost a colour pop of the flower head. If you look at the bottom of the image there is a slight scratch on the plastis which I would have taken out but I feel it adds to the authenticity. A sense of underwater? #dahlia
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
Back out on the "proper" fells earlier. A relatively short walk in the Howgills up to Randygill Top & Green Bell. About 8 miles & 1800 ft of ascent which isn't anything amazing but a nice reintroduction to the fells. Lungs & knees feel like they've had a good workout. "Weasdale Beck" #Howgills
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers Damian! I think there may be more this week when I take the proper camera out.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks very much Richard
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you Rina.....quite lucky that one of the allotment holders is a dahlia fanatic. He's been growing, showing, selling & cultivating them for over 50 years & his part of the allotment is a riot of colour and beauty. I'll take some proper shots when I go back with a decent camera.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
Walking through the allotment yesterday and the dahlia blooms in one of the polytunnels really caught my eye; especially the ones against the taut sides. #dahlia #flowers #allotment
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent

Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent

thanks for the kind words Poxelda
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers Shaun; yeah plenty of stop off points up that end of the road.....we've always wanted to walk the WMR but there's so many points of interest it would take a good week if you took a camera!

West Beach, Berneray.....so beautiful I had to capture it a few times in a single frame. A bit of ICM, a bit of multiple exposure, a bit of photoshop.......a bit of heaven!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
I will Sarah.....I'll save a couple of the heads and throw them around there next spring.....they were a beautiful colour too.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks ever so much Sarah. I was going to collect some seeds from the allotment this year, but all of a sudden this plant appeared in the garden, so no need. In fact I might take some of these seeds down to the allotment. ππ
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
yes it does and they are quite robust too for the size.
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
thanks Jakob; ever changing channels and Hebridean light; all magical!
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social) reply parent
That's nice and vibrant & beautifully soft! I've been brainwashed by camera club judges who insist on pin sharp (amongst a lot of other things). I've not had images published in magazines or the like, so I know no better!! I do ignore judges thogh these days!π
Mick Houghton (@mickh5.bsky.social)
Just a repost for #ShareMondays2025
