I worked in North America for two decades and yes, many of my colleagues from the USA didn’t fully comprehend the level of weaponized politeness.
One of the joys of retirement is that I am also able to retire these phrases. I used each of them with frustrating regularity.

It plummeted to new lows on my drive today - he pronounced 'Basil Brush' as 'Bay-zel Brush' and I almost crashed, out of pure rage. Nothing left to do but find a new #Audiobook for the car. Getting the right #Narration is as important as the story.

Some bloke from the USA whose points of reference for the accent were Dick Van Dyke and Costner’s Robin ‘ood? The story is engaging but I am brought out of it every three or four minutes by this inconsistent, inaccurate and intrusive #narration. I should have remembered to try a #sample first.
