Gentrification is what we call it when demand exceeds supply. It is not caused by bike lanes. The answer is not to suppress demand by enshittifying cities, or to justify endangering & killing people outside of cars as a rent control mechanism, but to increase supply.

One of the main benefits of doing a US PhD is the extra time you get, that's one of the big reasons I advised my students to apply for US programmes. We offer a four year degree here, there'd be no advantage over us. The US is euthanising its massive advantage in research for no good reason.

Proportional representation would actually help Republicans in MA. Massachusetts is an example of a state where geography favors Dems since the rural areas are more Dem than elsewhere. With PR theyâd get 2-3 seats out of 9, but with districts youâd have to gerrymander like crazy to get that result.

The Wisconsin State Fair is literally right off a bike trail, but instead of secure bike parking, they CLOSE THE TRAIL during State Fair. And the city of West Allis wonât push WisDOT for protected bike lanes on 84th Street because it would reduce residentsâ ability to charge fairgoers for parking.
