Tried to drag myself to #parkrun this morning but I didn’t feel right, so decided to listen to my body and give this week a miss. My gym moto is always ‘keep showing up’, but I’ll still rely on my body to be my guide. There’s always next week. Shout out to all those that showed up to PR today. 🫡

Went back to my favourite #Parkrun today, my 16th trip to Forest Rec in Nottingham! A brill course, but not for the faint hearted, and always a great atmosphere created by the #hivizheroes - with dancing, music & the legendary bell ringer near the finish. Closing in on that #50 milestone! 👊💪

Continued the #parkrun tourism with a maiden trip to Rushcliffe Country Park today. More challenging than local runs in Long Eaton, Beeston & Colwick, but still enjoyable - a great park & facilities. Nearly 600 runners and a top 20 finish… as always huge thanks to the volunteers! #hivizheroes
Possible that poverty and a lack of education/aspiration were a factor, but that’s not the whole answer.

I don’t think it was just the far right involved Jim, of the nearly 900 arrests last year in the riots following the horrific Southport murders, over 40% of those arrested had previously been reported for domestic abuse crimes… so it’s fair to say many of the rioters were also domestic abusers.
Took a weekend off from Parkrun to visit Truck Festival in Oxfordshire, saw some incredible bands including the mighty Kasabian and our new favourites the #Reytons! I’ll get back out there on the 5k’s next weekend… 😜

Really enjoyed being a #parkrun tourist at Beeston this morning! Ideal conditions, a lovely flat course, huge turnout (>400) and one of the best marshalling teams I’ve ever seen, they had a sign language interpreter for the 1st timer briefing! 👏👏👏 to those hi-viz heroes!

Took my 1st visit to Mansfield #parkrun this morning, not a huge turnout (<100) but really good multi lap course, very flat, ideal for chasing a PB… No PB today but another 3rd🥉! 😜 Apparently the “friendliest Parkrun” in the UK, with some very friendly, very smiley marshalls! 😁

Took on my #parkrun nemesis again today at Bestwood Village - 36 secs off my course PB and somehow got 3rd… 🥉 A brutal 95m elevation gain, most of it before 2km is always tough, but still rewarding! Great marshalled as always! Keep showing up guys, this community is EPIC! 👊
Wollaton Hall for my 1st #parkrun on that course today… recommend this one! Some inclines, but not too brutal & plenty of shade from the ☀️. Don’t mind the £2 parking when it maintains such a stunning park! 388 runners but didn’t feel busy due to the park size, marshalls were brill (as always 😉).

Was out being a #parkrun tourist at Long Eaton today, but I couldn’t really enjoy it because it was too busy! 754 runners! 😬🫢 A nice course and really well marshalled, but the start wasn’t fun due to the crowds, so I won’t be rushing back to that one. Locals, is it always that busy?

Got out in the ☀️ today at the beautiful (but challenging) Gedling Country Park #parkrun, setting a course PB. Some stunning scenery, but 3 unforgiving hills (total elevation gain was 80m/260ft). 🥵 Not one the faint hearted but really rewarding! Excellent marshalling as always! 👏

Setting new PBs this morning while ‘touristing’ at Poolsbrook Country Park’s #parkrun - a multi lap course around a lovely lake near Chesterfield. Great facilities (ample free parking, cafe, loos) and really well marshalled! Recommend this one if you’re chasing a PB. 😉

Smashed my #parkrun PB this morning at the stunning Black Rocks (Derbyshire Dales). A huge 360 turnout, although it’s not the most exciting course I’ve ever ran, the weather was glorious, loads of volunteers and a fabulous place to have a post run wander in the woods. ☺️

Faced some #parkrun demons today, tackled my least favourite in Nottingham (Bestwood Village) and smashed 1:25 off my course PB! 👊 The 3km warm up run down there came in handy - make sure to warm up properly kids (& adults)! Thanks to the volunteers, esp the RD with the faulty megaphone! 🤣
