It’s time for decrim. Senate Bill 31 ends low-level arrests and supports law enforcement combating high-level crime: decriminalizes small amounts, clears misdemeanor convictions, and funds community oversight. #TXLege #SD16

Present Texas THC laws are inconsistent and fail to protect the public, especially kids. Senate Bill 53 fixes that with clear, enforceable rules: testing, a 5 mg per serving limit, 21+ age restriction, licensed businesses, and a dedicated oversight fund. #TXLege #SD16
Senator Nathan Johnson (@nathanfortexas.bsky.social)
A total THC ban, in my view, isn’t enforceable or desirable. My cannabis reform package — Senate Bill 30 to regulate THC and Senate Bill 31 to decriminalize adult use cannabis — offers lawmakers a safer, controlled, and accountable path to regulation. #TXLege #SD16
Senator Nathan Johnson (@nathanfortexas.bsky.social)
First bills out the gate: ➡️ SB 30 Regulated THC Market ➡️ SB 31 Decriminalize Adult-Use Cannabis ➡️ SJR 3 Ban Mid-Decade Redistricting ➡️ SJR 2 Establish Independent Redistricting Commission

On August 6, 1965, because of the work of Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, Fannie Lou Hamer, and the civil rights movement, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law. 60 years later, we honor that legacy, protecting the right to vote and by demanding fair maps. #TXLege

Regulating the market keeps Texans safer by: setting standards for production, marketing, and sale; funding law enforcement to test, track, and prosecute bad actors; and freeing up officers to focus on high-level crime instead of low-level cannabis cases. (5/6)

My SB 54 bill ends low-level arrests and supports law enforcement combating high-level crime. It decriminalizes small amounts, allows limited home cultivation, creates a regulated market, sets a 21+ age minimum, clears low-level convictions, and funds community oversight. (4/6)
