On August 6, 1965, because of the work of Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, Fannie Lou Hamer, and the civil rights movement, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law. 60 years later, we honor that legacy, protecting the right to vote and by demanding fair maps. #TXLege

Interestingly whites (especially white women) benefited the most from the Voting Rights Act.
