So your best shot is a non sequitur about cats. Focus really hard and give some reasoned argument about the ECHR.
Neill (@neillsmitchell.bsky.social) reply parent
And yet dozens of UK citizens needed recourse of the ECHR to protect them from govt. Denying their rights. See Sunday Times Vs UK, Big Brother Watch Vs UK, or Goodwin v. UK etc. Could you cite your 'Hate' based cases for balance?
Neill (@neillsmitchell.bsky.social) reply parent
3/3 - The ECHR is not a foreign imposition; it's a reflection of values the UK helped to establish after WW II to ensure the horrors of state-sponsored oppression never happened again. It is an essential, line of defence for ordinary people against potential overreach by their own government.
Neill (@neillsmitchell.bsky.social) reply parent
2/3 - Furthermore, the notion that it overrides UK sovereignty without any checks is incorrect. The "Margin of Appreciation" doctrine acts as a powerful brake, and ultimately, the power to make and change UK law rests with the UK Parliament.
Neill (@neillsmitchell.bsky.social) reply parent
1/3 - Human Rights Are a Protection from the Majority, Not Rule by the Minority: The entire purpose of a human rights framework is to place limits on state power and protect individuals from the "tyranny of the majority."

It's so much worse than that. My father-IL had glioblastoma, 12 weeks to live, no hospice beds in Cornwall, care funding allocated for home, not one private provider would come the 5 miles from the town to provide that care. The family had to do what they could and pay £1000 a week for help.

1. You don't get 'offered' bail - you have a right unless specific conditions are met (Public safety, protection of witnesses, risk of failure to attend, risk of further offending) 2. 56 days (magistrates) or 182 days (Crown) are the time limits on remand.

Is that not an effect of incompatible full wet tyre and ground effect cars? If it's wet enough for blue ringed tyres, the car design makes it impossible to use them. It's another own goal to come from limited testing (1st and 2nd year of these cars bouncing being another)
Neill (@neillsmitchell.bsky.social) reply parent
Don't be silly - it's important to only have a few days of testing new vehicles on limited surfaces and weather. That way you get surprised by things like violent bouncing or a wet tyre that stops the car from working that ruins races AND save money!
Neill (@neillsmitchell.bsky.social) reply parent
That particular issue (and at other wet races) is down to the current full wet tyre + ground effect cars being incompatible - it's never been used. F2 were racing in worse conditions, they don't have an inter, just full wet.
Neill (@neillsmitchell.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm all for that. With no societal ruler to impose restrictions or enforcement on property it'll be much easier to acquire a landowners land. Pitchforks and a mob will do for the weakest. Not entirely dissimilar to how much of that land was acquired by the current owner.

US bail is weird. In the UK the tests are : 1. Is there a risk to the public? 2. Is there a risk to witnesses? 3. Is there a risk of failure to attend court? 4. Is there a risk of re-offending? 5. Can these risks be managed (tagging/bail conditions etc)? The ability to pay doesn't feature.
