We had a microcosm of this sort of play out on our street a year or two ago - two neighbours got shitty at each other (one a busy body, one a recluse), and because we tried to be friendly to all, well, that's not allowed. Still better than what Sydney was like, but it's such a waste of attention.
Everyone deserves a better class of antagonist. I could barely sustain a fart with the spite generated by this low effort hazing, and it's really kind of sad.
