I remember having heard from one of the people involved in CFz reg that card payment processors *were* willing to work with them, but only if they could hold onto the funds until after the con had happened, as then the “product” has been “delivered” But then the con can’t pay their vendors
Note that this isn’t an acceptability thing — it’s purely around logistics. Furry cons taking a huge amount of money upfront for a con that will occur several months later is a lot of potential liability when it comes to chargebacks, etc
I continue finding it very funny that a certain event (which I shan't name) takes like a month to approve all their registered attendees in small batches, because they don't want to take in too much money at once and draw unwanted attention from Stripe
