France's political turmoil is unlikely to trigger an imminent euro crisis. But its inability to tackle its public debt does make it even less likely that Europe will do what is necessary to boost its economic and geopolitical power. In that way, France risks sowing the seeds of the next crisis

It’s simply saying that of the 4.5 million who arrived during the last four years of the Tories, more than half are still here. As a result, one in 25 people in the country today arrived during those years…

The Tory refusal to be honest about the scale of their Brexit disaster and associated trade-offs has utterly discredited the party, perhaps permanently, radicalised the right and raised the spectre of a Faragist Trumpian tyranny. The country risks being trapped in a doom loop.

The United States paid nothing for these Shares, and the Shares are now valued at approximately $11 Billion Dollars. This is a great Deal for America and, also, a great Deal for INTEL. Amazing. It's going to be funny watching Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage going into the next election pledging to reverse this, or whatever their incoherent policy will be by then

Well at least we have confirmation that the files contain something that is really bad — bad enough to make him worried that he can’t spin it or that it would turn his base against him (and considering that they will pretty much forgive him for anything, it means it’s REALLY bad)

Presumably the EU, as the great great promoter of international rules that we know it is, will offer these 0% tariffs to all WTO members?

That the Henley Partners data was bullshit was obvious even without the help of forensic accountants. I wrote about it in March, as did others including @tortoisemedia.bsky.social, but obviously not our fearless right-wing papers that have been splashing with this crap every week for months

The Tories may be flatlining, but at least one former minister's stock is rising. Why is Jeremy Hunt being feted as an elder statesman when he was arguably the worst chancellor in recent times? From my latest newsletter open.substack.com/pub/nixons/p...

Trump is tilting at windmills just as new research finds that renewables are now the cheapest form of electricity generation everywhere. How is the US going to win the AI race when his own DOE is warning of a 100-fold increase in blackouts over the next 5 years? My latest

Europe should learn the lessons of last week's disappointing EU-China summit. Europe is no longer a priority for Beijing, which is now more focused on the Global South. Europe needs to make a counter-offer or risk being sidelined completely
