He hasn't been explicit about it but he said there was something about the working environment he didn't like IIRC Between Barrowman whipping his "little Barrowman" out every few minutes, and Clarke being an out and out creep, I think he's been pretty much vindicated.

"Amnesia the Dark Descent" a horror game without any weapons with Dated graphics (even at the time of release), was the one game that really made me nervous. There's a bit where there's an invisible creature chasing you, you can only tell where it is through the splashes it makes in the water...

Haha. Feel like the BBC are under instructions to say how great the Hundred is etc.

Although I am quite enjoying the commentators pretending there has been any competitive game there. It was clearly done by about ball 40.

Anyway. Already feels this game is done. Trent's batting just hasn't got started and they lost 3 big wickets. Watched a couple of Hundred games this year, and its felt like a 50% chance the game will be a boring one sided affair.

Honestly the only time Tiktok broke through to the mainstream IMO as something "distinctly tiktok" was that brief fad for Sea Shanties. The one that went around everywhere where different people layered on top (with variable success) felt unique but spread over every platform.

I think the US is still in a massive mess as the right has found out they can go much further than they dreamed without bad electoral consequence, through the entirety of the system. But I think what's left of the republican party will resemble a bit more conventional politics as factions fight.
Notjarvis (@notjarvis.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm not saying everything will be fine, just that the movement will fracture some without a unifying centre, and there will be far more visible infighting. The political platform is utterly incoherent but held together by Trump as figurehead, with the only unifying policy being deportations.
Notjarvis (@notjarvis.bsky.social) reply parent
It won't die, but it might diffuse as it loses a big focal point. Trump had a unique presence as someone with the image of being a smart rich businessman, who also didn't talk in "clever" language, but gave permission for all sorts of dark instincts. Not sure anyone can replicate that.

Man U are on a mediocre run. They've got an expensively assembled squad with players signed under three different permanent managers, and although Amorim was highly rated when he came in, he seems to have a very specific idea of what formation/team he wants. And these players ain't it.

I think we all do that a bit don't we? We all have a little voice in our head that says "advertising/politics/campaigns/our social media environs has no effect on me..." and to a lesser or greater degree it always does. But agreed it's more obvious in columnists who write about this phenomena.
Notjarvis (@notjarvis.bsky.social) reply parent
The cynic in me thinks this is exactly what those painting and putting up thes flags want. They are hoping to get footage/stories of the council and/or people who "hate are country" covering them up or moving them. Would spread on their niche on social media if they manage it.

And Noel Clarke wasn't someone at the top of the tree! He was successful in the scale of the UK film industry in that he had produced a number of films with reasonable success. But he was hardly at the scale of a Weinstein. Makes you wonder how many such stories just get nixed early at first hint
Notjarvis (@notjarvis.bsky.social) reply parent
If a blog or a local newspaper or any publication without the resources and legal team of a large newspaper had published the exact same research and story what would have happened? Likely the story would have been quietly taken down as they could not afford such a legal fight

This is clear a good thing. But it shows how hard it is to get such allegations published if a mid tier UK film actor/producer can sue in a way that requires an expensive months long defence. "Noel Clarke loses libel case over sexual misconduct investigation" www.theguardian.com/media/2025/a...
