This meeting is cringe 😬 Each leader has to go around the table and praise Trump Listening to Rutte, what is it that makes Putin so worried about NATO when the general sec is a sniveling Buffoon After all is done, if Russia stop the invasion, I don't care if Trump gets the Nobel peace prize

Apparently the leader of Qatar negotiated with the supreme leader of Iran. I don't think the 6, 12, 24 hour thing has any truth, but that's what I read before hitting the sack last night.

I understand the balancing act he has to play with US-ians electing a malignant, orange, psychopathic Buffon, but There. Is. No. Way. We. Are. Entering. Another. USA. War Doing so will, categorically, hand power to ReformUK at the next GE Starmer & Cameron, together, will have ruined this nation

Quiz. Only one country has ever used nuclear weapons in war. Who was it? Is the world safer with Trump in charge of the most powerful military the world has ever known? No? So should everyone do the same to the US?

Musk will singlehandedly set science back decades with his irresponsible, flagrant and capricious attitude towards human life and our shared planet. I'm so tired of the people that claim private companies drive invention and innovation forward so we should drop regulations.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Where are the 2A morons that go on about a tyrannical government? Surely this is it! I'm not suggesting anyone be violent, just pointing out that it was just about them keeping their toys all along. When tyranny turns up, they go quiet.
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
It's sad to say, but... This is what US-ians voted for. It's not like Trump didn't say this is what he'll do. He was quite clear. And the people elected him to do this. It is shocking to see just how quickly a country can spiral onto a totalitarian path.
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
I dunno. It's so carefully worded and not and out and out, clear endorsement. I see Thiel and his minions building up to an attempted coup of MAGA and the GOP.
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
Lol, what? "...Bannon is now invested in this issue..." He said before the inauguration, his goal was to bring down Musk. He has been working hard to get rid of Musk. I don't fear Musk, Thiel, Vance, Trump, etc. But Bannon is a genuine malevolent force. A very scary and dangerous psychopath.

This will be when Musk turns again, apologises and then fully submits to Trump. Trump will abuse Musk to his face (see Ted Cruz, Kevin McCarthy, etc) and Musk will half smile and say "Thank you for saving the world Mr. president"
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
I think this is more insightful than it may seem. These MAGA/Thiel minions seem to be stuck in an ever increasing frenzy. It's like they've confused reality with WWE entertainment and the hyper frenzy surrounding them prevents them from snapping out of it.

Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
Am I missing something obvious here? Sky news is explaining why Donnie Dump can't be pope. Like, why he can't for a real, technical reason. Why is everyone going off on them? Is this just a circle jerk bash the news media at every opportunity thing?
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent

They've given context and provided links. Headline-only readers don't read Reuters. Reuters have provided extra context in the sub headline update thread. They've behaved responsibly here. By bemoaning Reuters here, you give fuel to those that look to push propaganda.
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
That's a society problem, not a Reuters or news media problem Reuters can't put all context into a headline I understand your frustration, but you're misdirecting it. There are only a handful of decent, genuine and trustworthy news sources. They should be scrutinised, but only when they've erred
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
Anyone that gets their information from a headline is not someone interested in context. You can't reach them. Hell, the headline doesn't even direct their thoughts, they look for words to get angry about.

As a person with Indian born parents, I understand the sensitivity here. I also understand just how critical genuine and trustworthy news sources are right now; Reuters being one of them. Also, the terror attack on Pahalgam was global news. Anyone inclined to read Reuters will know about it.
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
That's a kind of fair point, but I don't think anyone in the world doesn't know about the recent terrorism. Let me try to be nice but probably patronise you instead. I understand you're probably pretty angry right now about the terror attack. But orgs like Reuters are vital at the moment.
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
Definition of Attack You attacked Reuters incorrectly.
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
A response can be an attack. Just like the US response to Iraq after 9/11 Whether you agree with the response or not, it doesn't change what it was. Also, Reuters is reporting on what the Pakistani state dept said. They aren't telling you what happened, just reporting with fact checks.
Nurable (@nurable.bsky.social) reply parent
