Pure bullshit on Hogg. Now muting, because your kind of insidious nonsense is *why* progressive messaging gets muted. Because your selfish, manufactured outrage means more to you than progress.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
This is so riddled with BS throughout, it is not even worth more time. And your use of too many buzzwords gives away the game.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
This is absolute nonsense, and selective, as hell. AOC was not selected by her colleagues, including plenty of progressives. Yet all still Dems. Hogg chose to leave despite the amazing Kenyatta, in exactly the same situation, sticking around and doing the work. You will not change history here.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
Sure! But, I would posit they work on stickers and signs. If making an argument against data and facts, simply saying it over and over would be odd, no? ๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
Wait, what? They have literally supported hundreds of Dem candidates. And we just came off a Dem president after beating Trump before. This is simply a stupid statement. If this is all about one mayoral candidate, then you are simply bananas.

Great suggestions!๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
Ok. Since when does the DNC support mayoral candidates? The post said they supported Cuomo. What does that mean? When is the DNC โsupportingโ mayoral candidates?
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
Wait, what? Since when does the DNC endorse *any* mayoral candidates? What are you even talking about?

I hadnโt really focused there yet, but Lord knows Bernie wading in is not a compelling way to build my interest.๐คฃ๐คฃ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I am asking again for you to point to a country with what you think is closest to a successful similar looking M4All, because now I am even more baffled by your argument. You can choose to do that, or not, no worries.๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I donโt think I said it is necessary, I simply think it is a better fit for us based on our size, existing politics, the success in many countries, etc. I named preferred plans elsewhere in the thread. The greed puts them on the streets makes no sense in context. In universal, everyone is covered.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social)
@lasuiter.bsky.social Woohoo!
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
LOL! I am objectively incorrect about a large group of the most successful countries for healthcare across the world? What the hell are you even talking about? Not even bothering with mute. Just blocking for willful ignorance.๐คฃ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
Muting anyway, because you are talking in regurgitated bumper stickers, not actual compelling points. Good luck!
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
What? Which part is propaganda? It is straight fact. You can not like those facts and want to change them, but they are what they are.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
So, what are you cooking up for dinner?๐
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I agree. And I have been fighting for universal for decades. But, too many people seem unaware that m4All is *one* option under a larger umbrella. Personally, I thought some of the early CAP plans & DeLauroโs & Schakowskyโs Medicare for America were easier sells. But, discussions should be had.๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I truly donโt understand your question. Can you point me to a country using what you think is most like M4All?
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
In defense of M4All, it is not exactly actual Medicare for all as we think of our current Medicare. Parts are much more similar to Medicaid, so the entire pay system is different.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
From what I understand, CA canโt implement anything similar right away because of the way the California Constitution is written with budget issues between education and healthcare outlays. Hybrid can include severe restrictions on private costs which allows coverage but with competitive limits.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
LOL! Ok. You are literally now dismissing the idea of even talking about solutions. Good luck with that. And, bye, I have no tolerance for that kind of bullshit.๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I know exactly what I am saying. We need serious talks from serious people to work through existing issues. Other Reps have come up with some pretty clever hybrid solutions. Simply spouting M4All over and over by certain factions is simply not going to work.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
What on earth are you talking about? I was referring to the most successful systems around the world. None of which use M4All, many of which use a hybrid system. Get as snotty as you like, but at least try to follow along. Thanks.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
Youโre dismissing most successful healthcare systems for one never proven to work which still has longer ramp up times, a not established funding mechanism and myriad other issues without even addressing my key issue. I find that not in good faith and why it continues to be stymied. Best of luck.๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I absolutely agree on the Connolly issue. I saw him out there at rallies, doing interviews, presiding over hearings, in other words doing his job, until almost the very end. One of the most effective legislators in my lifetime.โค๏ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I really enjoy your work, but I found this to be pretty online opinion driven, not based on facts/actions. Also, without looking it up, who were the Congressional minority leaders during Civil Rights? Suffrage? The Labor movement? Stonewall? Most major movements are not led by pols. Just a thought.๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
After fighting for universal for more than three decades, I am not convinced M4All is best. Even Canada still relies almost 30% on private options, and Bernieโs plan, as an example, outlaws duplicate coverage. M4All has never had the overwhelming support needed once people are given the specifics.

Don Beyer from NoVa.โค๏ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you for this. Itโs been infuriating to argue against false narratives. Hell, even my not quite as online Rep has been doing constant tele-town halls & organizing incredible events with job assistance fairs for fired fed workers, healthcare outreach, food help, etc. All of these things matter.๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
Universal healthcare, yes. Hybrid systems are especially successful. M4All, nope. And the purity from some factions is going to stymie the process even when Dems win back Congress and the WH.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I find the entirely bad habit of certain factions, online people/pundits, etc. to call for *anyone* to be POTUS based on clapback, a few great speeches or even rallies to be pretty ridiculous. Particularly for pols with little to no legislative successes and before we hit midterms.๐ธ๐ธ

I think quite a few GOPers think they can get away with the crap Trump pulls and says. But, while the press almost always ends up normalizing and giving Trump a free pass, they try to show their โobjectivityโ by *occasionally* calling out random GOPers.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
Or, in fact PR as a whole. It is such an odd outrage.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
To their face? What does that mean? What of the politicians/candidates you *do* support are calling their colleagues Nazis to their โfaceโ? So, you are looking for optics over actions. You want clapback? Good God on the bread and circuses nonsense. As for calling them liars, a five second search.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I truly wish I believed that. I do. I am sure it happens, but some of the worst things I have seen said are from extremely online pundits and people I know are real.
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I said exactly none of that, lol. Must be a great conversation in your head. Enjoy that! Good God, are some of you self-righteous with *nothing* to back up your made up narrative. Best of luck!๐ธ

Absolute fact on McMahon missing that, I could not disagree more on level of importance. If you in anyway believe a mayor affects more of your life than POTUS, I am not sure what to say.๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social)
Good Lord. I absolutely love NYC. I am a Broadway addict. I am a diehard Yankee fan (watching them now). I lived there for years, went to Columbia (ouch), etc. But, it is a mayoral race. Literally a race for a mayor of one city. People have lost their damned minds.๐ธ๐ธ
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
LOL! This is exactly the plan mentioned by multiple Bernie supporters in 2016. You know that, right? Meanwhile, in 2018 Pelosi led Dems to flipping 40 House seats red to blue. AOCโs group and Bernieโs flipped zero. None. Also check 2022 midterms. Dems you are snarking at *do the work*.

What is awful about this piece is both the almost fawning tone in parts, and the idea that anyone thinks the Zelensky anecdote showed transparency while it is clear it was a blow-up Trump wanted people to see while meetings or even readouts for Putin are never shared. The press has been played.

That was my first reaction, yet the reporters I heard were pretty remarkable with the kids. And while it still seems wrong, if they have to live through it, their voices and experiences should be shared without editing. The โadultsโ should have done a lot more much earlier.

Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
I dislike the press for many reasons, but this thread is a perfect example of why the press covers the Dems the way it does. With everything going on, the bulk of the posters *still* bitch and whine about other Dems rather than focusing on what the GOP is doing. Why *wouldnโt* the press cover it?
Alexandra ๐ธ๐ธ (@nycbubbles.bsky.social) reply parent
It is frightening that he says this things, but it is even more terrifying that he has an Admin that will then do these things and certain courts which will then affirm these things. And, even worse, followers who will vote for all of this.
