yeah, I figured MS were probably throwing some money at it. The only Jp peeps I've seen mention it are of the 'hey, I can get a free Caravan MVP if I dig the xbox out' variety But it's good more people have access to the games & maybe it rustles up some more Western interest / coverage too?
Individual event leaderboards would be a nice extra as it's fun doing the ones you like. Numan had to have them as that game has no overarching scoring mechanics, just pass or fail, whilst in Mach you always have a competitor, so you can pass qualifying but not beat your rival for 3pts instead of 6
The Neo Geo stuff was entirely funded by SNK which is the only reason they got Windows ports, as SNK wanted them. I'm kinda stunned they're doing Xbox these days tbh considering it's almost non-existent in Japan But like you say, PC is just an endless bunch of problems + hacking, piracy etc

11th place this week. I reached the maximum score of 24 but the deciding factor is your sprint time in the initial race. I did mid 8 secs shaking the Dual Shock analog stick but went with my arcade stick for full attempts as it has much better buttons that help in the Ice & Monster stages

Gaiares rules. I'd have bought ot if it was on PSN, even at the rather silly price. Granada was OK bitd but I've not played it in decades. The others are all borderline to actual trash across both collections
you're firmly in the 'most fun to reach & maybe improve on a little' time range Beyond 1:40s you're into glitchy stuff where very little works as you'd imagine & you get stick around 1:37-38 & need to start re-evaluating every single thing you knew
The game rules - only 2 courses & there's not much challenge to just finishing but if you like finding ways to improve your times & don't mind going into glitchy, game breaking nonsense for the very best times, then you'll love it Luckily the best fun is just going from competent to very good times

later Gameboy stuff was all re-hash, remakes tldr, out of a ton of OG games in the 80s-90s only 1 was big everywhere (SNES) & 1 was big in US (NES), with a side of Super C there too. 8bit Gryzor was pretty ubiquitous in Europe. Japan had a lot of games but none were ever 'biggest thing ever'
Joe Euro never even heard of Contra until SFC Spirits if they were lucky. Gryzor / Probotector land When new, Gameboy ver basically unknown. Hard Corp, basically unknown & only got OK reviews, hence why now 'OMG rare'. PS1 games were memes. PS2 games were too but are now semi-respected
