Sinds Donald Trump terugkeerde in het Witte Huis, stromen de orders binnen bij het omstreden softwarebedrijf Palantir. Nu blijken ook systemen van onze politie en defensie er afhankelijk van te zijn. Een applicatie van de politie draait inmiddels op de data van miljoenen onschuldige Nederlanders.
Zou iedere man en jongen moeten lezen. Niet iedereen zou erdoor stoppen, maar hopelijk toch een grote groep, waardoor de wereld weer iets veiliger wordt voor vrouwen en meisjes. 💔
'Until nations are confident Ukraine can defend itself'. Is interesting phrasing. It's about confidence that Ukraine is militarized to such an extent that Russia is deterred from attacking Ukraine.

The actually interesting conversation at this time is that we can properly evaluate (non) actions by our leadership after the US 'pivot to Asia', 2014 Crimea Annexation and again after the full Russian invasion. That sequence got us where we are.

Just saw the volt NL election program. It's a bit much to read :-p Perhaps you can expose an AI chat backed by the program (pdf) so people can ask about the program and get a summary with facts behind it. Should be fairly straightforward to setup perhaps.
I don't, but people use AI as relationship therapists so they certainly will use AI for election advice.
I use AI daily. Often useful, but the few tests I did with ChatGPT for information on Dutch political parties was bad. Wrong answers or answers that nudged me in a certain direction. Do you know anyone who relies on AI to help them choose how to vote?

Russia always cries a river, and generally barks a lot. Germany went from helmets to Leopards without real consequence. Its just that Germany is more senstive to Russian threats and Russia knows it. The whole Taurus debacle was imo an absolute breakdown in German deterance vs Russia.
Imo most likely in both cases is that 🇷🇺 would simply downplay the significance and effectively not directly react. There may be more asymmetric sabotage actions. Who knows? Those are unacceptably frequent already anyway.

Unfortunately the judiciary (and legislature) are dysfunctional. There was ample opportunity (4 years!) to come to a verdict on some eye watering crimes and it didn't manage to. As the cherry on top the constitution is simply ignored. (insurrectionists are not eligible for office).

Every European state that tries to convince Ukraine that they should accept a security guarantee that falls short of NATO and relies on the world of Donald Trump--should be required to leave NATO and take the exact same "guarantee". We can then see how much worth it really has.

Anders, is a European air campaign (for ex. to enforce no flight zone) ever a realistic option in terms of capability? I recognise that this would involve shooting down Russian planes and destroying anti air.
The less aid the US actually gives Ukraine the less relevant Trump's theatrics become.
Manpower seems to be more of a constraint for Ukraine. Though clearly Russia's is not endless either and comes at a cost to the labor force, they still have advantage there.
That's just like regular maintenance scaffolding. More likely explanation was that they were doing just that.

My intuition suggests that it is unlikely German Industry will face total collapse. From the chart you posted I understand that industry declined by some 15% since 2017. Given industry is about 20% of GDP that would get 3% (?) decline in GDP. So if the defense industry can cover a chunk of that 👍
In my mind it would make sense for some german production cap to be repurposed for military and defense production. I also imagine the process takes time and investment. Do you see signs this repurposing actually happening?

Actually, the EU’s (as in: the institutions, not the member states) reaction to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine was pretty strong. In the proper Orwellian sense, e.g. the new European Peace Facility was funnelled into financing military support for Ukraine.

I am not sure how this mechanism works, but doesn't in part NATO tell /request from countries what capabilities are needed. I imagine experts at NATO are on board with the program and have a decent and concrete idea of what is required? (Altho I imagine the changing tech landscape is a challenge)
