Welp, I just discovered a new piece of weird movie ephemera I need. Apparently, they gave these "Witch Deflectors" away with screenings of WITCHCRAFT in 1964. (Also, "Witch Deflector" would make a great band name.)

Everyone wants dignity; no one is allowed to have it. Our competing world views come down to some believing that dignity is in limited supply, and they can only get some by ensuring that others have even less, while others (rightly) believe that none of us will have dignity until all of us do.

There are plenty of reasons to be annoyed about the new Ed Gein show's marketing, but as someone who has a soft spot for Charlie Hunnam (thanks mostly to PACIFIC RIM), I'm bummed that he got a meaty (no pun intended) lead role in something that seems determined to make Gein look cool.

Very possibly my actual favorite anime.
The Shrinky Dinks themselves are alright, despite featuring Angel but NOT Lilo, for some reason. But the real MVP here is the diorama backdrop of Lilo's house all decorated for the season, which also makes a nice staging point for my Scooby-Doo keshi figures.
I hadn't seen Shrinky Dinks since I was a kid, but this year, they apparently rolled out a cheap, Halloween-themed LILO & STITCH set.
It's Roland Emmerich's first feature (not counting one student film), and is basically him putting everything that Steven Spielberg had done up to that point into a blender with a soupcon of Stephen King's IT and a sinister ventriloquist dummy.
Ever since I first started hosting movies at Stray Cat Film Center, one that I've wanted to bring is the absolutely bonkers MAKING CONTACT (1985), which I'll finally be doing a week from tonight. Can't wait for everyone to meet Fletcher!
Intensely disappointed that this is not one of the big, sturdy Underworlds boxes, because it is the one I would use for EVERYTHING.
Something to keep an eye on if you watch those godzilla movies: after a while they stop using a guy in a suit and start using something else. Not sure what

Watching the swanky new 4K of DEADLY SPAWN. As movies like this go, this might just be the best one ever made.
Just discovered there's an english subtitled version of PSYCHIC VISION JAGANREI on youtube. Early faux-doc horror about a haunted j-pop idol and her hit single! it's very good and weird! For fans of Noroi!
Once they catch the cattle rustlers and thereby (apparently) end the book, they are transported back to the library in Mammoth Mansion and the actual book ends. This takes up one (partial) page.
Aside from the names of our two leads (and their hometown of Bedrock) and one passing mention of Pebbles, this could have been an entirely unlicensed book set in the present day.
Strangest of all, at no point either before or after they are transported to the Old West does the book make even a single reference, direct or otherwise, to the stone age setting of The Flintstones.
