One dog would sit next to the couch all the time so I’d do the same thing but I’d have to wrap my legs around her chest before she realized what was happening
So I usually make them sit and then I stand with them between my legs while facing the same direction. Bend over a little and put your hand under their chin pulling up a bit if you can. Usually they look up at you like wtf why are you behind me? Then use the side of your hand to hold their cheek
