We get Black Friday and Christmas Eve through NYD as holiday time, too.

They also seem to have quietly updated our personal time policy to 72 hours and expanded the definition of “family member” to be a lot more inclusive. I give HR a lot of shit usually but this company’s HR policies are Good, Actually.
We’ve officially reached “how much vacation can I cram into the rest of the year” season. I started off so good but have 16 days off remaining, not counting personal/sick days.

We got James Earl Jones the next year which was pretty awesome even though he wasn't a writer, he gave a great speech and his Q&A was amazing. Someone got him to record a voicemail greeting.
it might be the best adapted screenplay of all time, the characters were flat and boring, and the plot was slow as hell. Just bad and unengaging.
I only tried Andromeda Strain (which I liked more for the concept than the writing) and Jurassic Park but tried Congo before they tried to make it into a movie and gave up on Crichton's writing altogether.

Starship Troopers is an interesting case b/c the movie is trying to do something drastically different than the book.
Crichton is another bad writer who got inexplicably popular in that era but Jurassic Park was an okay book.

Catholic primary schools around here vary WILDLY apparently. The one in the fancy suburb is $23k, the ones in the more middle class suburbs are $7-9k. For the record the fancy suburb one is just a couple miles from Cranbrook, where, like, Mitt Romney went.

You know what else? I had to listen to some of last year's playoff games on the radio and was VERY pleasantly surprised. It got downright nerdy, breaking down hitting/pitching splits, etc., and none of the negativity that dominated the Jim Price era.
