Currently considering ways to raise it. Any ideas, do shout. The obvious point at which the EHRC should release a report on their consultation, is when they have finalised their code & sent it to the minister. How is the minister/parliament supposed to do proper scrutiny & review without this info?

The best formula I saw was: Two hours alone time for every hour of socialising. That sounds about right to me! And the OP is right: sleep doesn’t recharge us; it just stops the clock, while we’re unconscious!

It seems counterintuitive, but give them permission to take a break for as long as they need. I've quit writing forever four times (most recently at the end of July), and I always come back to it. Writing is a solitary, grueling marathon that never ends. It's okay to step away.

The remaining bit I need to fix is a pacing/tension issue at the 75% mark. I accidentally burst my own tension bubble with how I wrote a particular scene, then the next few scenes just kind of meander along. At this stage in the book, we really need pressure on our hero! So I need to fix this.

We’re certainly going to put a lot of pressure on her for this. If she then chooses not to allow it, it’s yet another black mark against her & objection++ to the code on record. FWIW I do think the pushback is having an effect—see the EHRC timeline for delivering the code significantly slipping, etc

Under the current “negative procedure“ there’s no vote in parliament. It becomes statutory guidance on the order of Phillipson after 40 sitting days. However, next week we’re launching a massive letterwriting campaign to push for full scrutiny, meaningful debate & free vote for MPs. Do get involved!
Currently, there is no indication that it will be published when the EHRC send it to Bridget (even though people have asked for this in the name of transparency). It’s possible that the public won’t get a chance to see it until it is laid in parliament.

Also - even when it's laid in Parliament (which may not be for another good few weeks), it will then be 40 (working) days before it becomes "law" (statutory guidance). In other words, the new Code is unlikely to come into force before November. And a lot can change before then!

We may not get sight of it for another few weeks yet. AFAIK, the EHRC haven't even sent it to the Equalities Minister yet. She then has to review it eg with the Attorney General. Assuming she / EHRC don't publish it at that stage (no reason they will), we won't see it till it's laid in Parliament.
