One thrust into the national limelight and this Luke Edwards guy has disgraced himself. Comes across as a jerk and an immature, unprofessional prick. No sense of self-awareness in admitting he writes what he's told. Knowing he exists has to be the worst part of this transfer window.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
They are twins. One plays for Feyenoord, the other is an Arsenal player who shares daily Bible verses on the internet but lies a lot on the pitch to try to con the ref and win fouls.

Starmer the most gutless politician of my lifetime: presiding over a once great and principled party that got into office with a substantial majority, he’s now unashamedly chasing after the approval of an infinitely smaller party with absolutely no principles whatsoever.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
And we signed Isak. Hope you're doing well.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh.. he absolutely did. He wrote a puff-piece on Howe and Newcastle. Praised how they handled an ungrateful Isak who Howe turned into a star. Then blamed #LFC for turning Isak's head and making a derisory 110m offer. Sports-washing, client-journalism, and Brexiting, all in one piece.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Did he praised #LFC for Guehi's conduct since he had us as being responsible for Isak's?
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
If you're looking for traits of people who would kill their ex-spouse or make divorce and separation horrible for no reason other than they can't deal with another person's decision to move on.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
It's really classless from NUFC and their fans parroting this idea that Isak was trying to sabotage their CL qualification. Luke Edwards wrote what someone in the club told him and that's absolutely gutter. Imagine being and still being in that dress room and reading that character assasination.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
You're way better than this. You can absolutely hate the player for the way he made you feel as a NUFC fan. But to join in this character assassination about him sabotaging his teammates when playing is silly and classless.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
It's better not to get involved in whatever is going on with Guehi and Palace as a #LFC fan. No matter how valid your point is, emotionally immature rival fans will jump into your TL to call you entitled and whatever expletives that easily roll off their tongue.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
We should go back to Newcastle and get Tonali next season imo #LFC
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, I've seen it. But I really didn't need him to tell me. I've been consuming Isak content for 2 months now. He genuinely makes Saliba and Gabriel shit their pants. Even VVD stays awake playing against him. He's the best #9 in the world for me. He has the platform to prove it now.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
The guy is freakishly good. If he can do that in a somewhat limited Newcastle team, imagine what he can do in a dominant team like this.
Orbinho (@orbinho.bsky.social) reposted
Expected Goals today Liverpool 0.45 Arsenal 0.55. Liverpool have scored four goals in a week from an xG of 1.14
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Don't worry. They don't care.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Close between Isak and Wirtz. But I'll say Isak because of the amount of shenanigans required to pull it off and the idea that it was possible didn't even compute at the end of last season.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
He's basically alleging match-fixing.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
This is libel. I hope Isak sues him.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
That doesn't stand up to scrutiny. He signed a shareholders' statement that talked about it. He just didn't think Palace could win the FA Cup.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
The coward deleted it.
kDamo (@kdamo.bsky.social) reposted
The worst thing about this transfer window hasn’t been #AVFC’s financial struggles. It’s been the constant efforts, mostly by #NUFC fans, to align the two clubs as righteous plucky upstarts held back by the cartel. Some truth in that, but we are not the same. The Saudi regime are not victims.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
He only changed employers ffs

Harvey Elliott has shared a heartfelt farewell message to Liverpool on Instagram as he embarks on a season-long loan at Aston Villa. The 22-year-old expressed his gratitude to the club, teammates, and fans for their support throughout his journey ❤️
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Parish knew of the existence of the rule, and the deadlines. He didn't ask Textor to set up a blind trust because he didn't think Palace could win the FA Cup. That's on him. If he asked and Textoe refused, then I can absolve him. He never asked.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
All these leads back to Parish, who I think is responsible for the Europa League fiasco and now this. I totally understand Glasner's position, even if I won't have had his way, unless he signs an extension.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Agree. Palace has let Glasner overstep his remit. From my experience as a LFC fan, it's a bad idea. Klopp decided to go over the recruitment folks cos of his success and made himself defacto SD, just like Glasner now. It stunted the squad development and wore him out. It won't end well. Just a guess
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
So, Steve Parish that said Palace can't afford to not sell him, has done what? He buckled to the pressure from his manager who threatened to walk away. A manager who has one year on his contract and can walk away when the next big job comes along? Great for the fans anyway and I hope Glasner extends
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
My point stands that Palace knew he wanted to leave. He won't sign an extension. They don't want to let him leave for free, and plan to sell. And he'll need to be replaced. It's a reasonable to expect that Palace would've already signed his replacement.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Why should a player have to say "it's my dream to play for #LFC?" It doesn't have to be a dream. They're here now and the motivation to win and do well should be the focus. Not some, I slept in Stevie G underwear shenanigans,
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh....
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
They knew of our interest since June or earlier. Forget our interest for a second. They knew he wasn't signing an extension and that they're not in a position to let him go for free. That means someone will pay $ for him. A competent CEO would've signed a replacement.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
Wissa signing is still subject to premier league approval?
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
It's dull, predictable and unimaginative.
Hippokloppamus (@hippokloppamus.bsky.social) reposted
Liverpool's media team should think about changing their formula in new player interviews of getting the player to say the same thing 8 different ways as the player becomes increasingly uncomfortable trying to rephrase the same sentiment 8 different ways.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
The guys oozes incompetence. The Europa League fiasco and now this.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
That's why I gave it a 8/10 window in terms of filling our needs. It should actually be 7 because we are also short one attacker.

Go & rest 😂 You’ve earned it! Thanks
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, I just reckoned that. His agent or mistakenly by someone at the club.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, I just guessed as much.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
That's possible because this is a Palace club video. It surely won't have come from #LFC
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
CP needed Guehi to get throu Conference League qualifiers. That's why Liverpool didn't bid. I don't know how Guehi feels about staying other than he said he's happy to see out his contract; a good thing. But the club has screwed him up cos they said he could leave, and changed their mind last minute
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
We only saw Ferkir screenshots. This is an entire video. I feel horrible for the kid.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Coward 😂 It hits differently when you see him in the shirt ngl
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)

I would've loved if he had the chance to take the #14 shirt. It would've pissed of two fanbases. NUFC for obvious reasons. And Arsenal fans who've spoken about him taking Henry's #14 shirt as if he was born a gooner.

We have incredible combination options tbh. Grav and Adam Wharton is dream pivot. Baleba allows us to be reckless offensively.

PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
He reminds me of Fabinho and might even be a better passer. I love Baleba too, especially for his incredible engine, ball carrying and underrated passing ability. Baleba might also have the higher ceiling, if I'm being honest.

Welcome to Liverpool Football Club, Alexander Isak! The shirt fits and you'll be fully backed. Wishing you an injury-free, trophy-laden stay, and all the luck a professional player needs. #LFC youtu.be/UVXYl-kSLi8?...

Adam Wharton or Baleba, with Wharton my preference.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
I think the 8 should've been a 7. I wanted a #6 at the start of the window too. But I understand why we didn't get one.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
ha ha ha. Farcical.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
I won't go past an 8 tbh
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Also, would've preferred a #6. But, I'm ok with moving that to next summer.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
I'm giving this window 10/10 with regards to quality of signing. I'm giving this window 8/10 for signing what we needed. We're one short in attack.

PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Especially not signing another forward. Chiesa as 5th forward option doesn't fill me with confidence, unless he's not the same player Slot refused to play last season.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
That was the sign for me. They had kind of saw it coming. Great credit for reading the room.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
That's a different conversation though but I agree with you, especially when dealing with corporations or in business. You need to ruthlessly protect your own interest.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
The club has put out that they really like him and will try again in January. All things being equal, he'll be a Liverpool player in Jan or summer.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
Next time Crystal Palace can't afford to compete for a player, Parish will surely let the manager and fans know that they let Guehi go for free. It's a horrendous situation that it's come to this and it's really on Steve Parish. I'm not even blaming Glasner.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
God forbid, imagine he has a career defining injury?
Ariella (@delldela.bsky.social) reposted
The moral of the story is to stop being a nice person when dealing with corporations, whether it is a company or a football club. Think about yourself and your career. Marc Guehi played the nice guy, and he will probably be forgotten within a year.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
I knew we weren't getting the Guehi deal done once it wasn't already done this morning. There's always room for some disappointment after the high of yesterday, and this was going to be that.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Gone with France. He'll go anyway.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
*screw
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
We'll probably go again or just decide to score Palace up and get him for free. We have his buy-in already. We just need him to stay loyal to the project.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
We may. For less than 20m.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
And he and us just wait until summer.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
I hope Steve Parish announces a contract extension for Oliver Glasner tomorrow morning. Otherwise, he'll look weak, clueless and incompetent.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
Guehi is a great option to have. But we have numbers to get us to Jan with a bit of luck on the injury side. Gutted for the kid. He's going to be expected to get on with it, while he's been screwed. Meanwhile, Glasner will jump at the next big club ship that opens up in the next 12 months. Farcical
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't agree. He acted like a professional and he's been screwed. It doesn't mean he doesn't want to be here.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
No way we sign him for more than 20m if we decide to go for him in January.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
I agree re: Parish's incompetence on signing a replacement and I agree Glasner has a reason to be mad. But Parish has not only shown incompetence here, he's shown himself to be weak. It's a good outcome for Palace that Guehi stays in the short term, but he's allowed the manager to run the club imo
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
It teaches a lesson tho.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social)
The lesson kids is that if you want a move, act the dick and refuse to play. You'll get your move. If you act "professional" you're going anywhere.

PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
He has a year on his contract and will walk away if jobs like City, Bayern and United become open this season, huge possibility. I'd ask him to extend his own contract now if he wants the club to forgo 35m.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Where have you seen it?
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
I haven't seen him say that anywhere.
PhillyRed (@philyred.bsky.social) reply parent
Forget Liverpool for one second. Would you want Guehi to walk away for free when the guy responsible for running the club said your club is not in a position to do that?
