And on the level of meaning or what the movie was saying: I think it had a lot to say about a lot of things. I found it pretty rich with meaning. It is true that it wasn't interested in coming to a definitive message about those things, but that is not a requirement of art
I'm just not sure how that applies to Weapons. On a narrative level, it had an antagonist with clear goals, who used consistent mechanics that were frankly over-explained, and was defeated using those mechanics. A pretty standard narrative structure
I'm with you that Civil War, like all Garland movies, is bad, but I'm confused by your assertion that Weapons ends with the witch without the narrative of dealing with the witch, as she's revealed 45 minutes before the end and then there is in fact a whole narrative of dealing with her

Exit West is an absolute gorgeous book about immigration and refugees. After Dark is my favorite Murakami, a short book about the strange happenings at night. Station Eleven and The Glass Hotel are both truly beautiful books that affected me deeply
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay might be the best novel of the century, and builds on genre ideas so that might be enjoyable. Carter Beats The Devil is a similar era and an absolute blast from start to finish. Bel Canto by Ann Patchett is gorgeous
