Fascists and eugenicists can’t accept that we’ve already found the solution — respect and treatment. It’s only a solution to them if a “problem” is eliminated. Barring that, the “problems” can be swept under the rug if they suffer in the shadows, lives stolen be those with power.
Not all treatment works, even if the person suffering MH issues is 100% willing and compliant. Which fucking sucks donkey balls. But the 'solutions' to that, are as I know you agree, are support. Housing, help, assistance. Dignity in what is frankly suffering. All doable too.
Rachel Aviv's Strangers to Ourselves is a very good book on compassion and humility when considering mental health.
It does fucking suck. Even when you’re getting treatment, and it’s working, you can’t always change everything you want to in yourself. But yes, exactly, those are all part of basic respect for me. Respect, dignity, and decency.
