You /wildly/ misread what I was saying. I was attacking the inherent classism of using "fanzine" to push non-commercially viable work as "not /really/ on the level." It makes sense for transformative works like fanart/fanfiction. It is really fucking strange to use it in reference to a /genre/.

I'm the guy who calls Aliens, The Da Vinci Code, etc. "fanfiction" :D None were made by the original creators of Alien and The Bible.

But it's the same bigotry in action there: "the establishment" approves, so "it's the default and requires no qualifier." Perhaps I should've used "classism" instead of "slur" to be clearer, but I don't see daylight between being classist and being a bigot.
