As to the former, they aren't left wing: they supported Trump for right wing reasons. As to the latter, you have yourself framed their opposition to Harris as based on their opposition to a Republican. As in, 100% of their attacks on Harris are attacks on Republicans, too.

It's not just that. Japan lost, but they still don't teach accurate history about WW2. When I went to uni there, my classmates didn't know about Nanking or why Yasukuni Shrine was controversial among their neighbors. They still deny the forced prostitution of Korean women by the Japanese army.

Have you seen Sketch? My wife got tickets for me and my daughters yesterday, and it was astonishingly good. Having seen the purple crayon movie, I had low expectations. Instead what I got was a legit suspense movie (signs, bird box) but somehow feels appropriate for children?? Big recommend.

Your position would create the possibility for strangers to coerce a child into doing things behind parent's back.
Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
The cutoff for me is whether their life is in immediate danger. That's a case by case factual question medical professionals make. A 10yo can be coerced easily to do a lot of things, which is why we require parental consent for non emergency medical procedures. That doesn't sound monstrous to me.
Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
You' be wrong though. Emergency has a specific meaning in a medical context. In short, a medical issue that has to be immediately resolved or else there will be serious injury or loss of life. A 15yo ten weeks pregnant is not in immediate danger. We agree that abortion should be legal fyi. No maga.
Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
You need a parent's permission for any medical procedure at that age. Can't get surgery without a parent's permission either except in emergency situations.

Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
Nitpicking this quote hurts credibility. For lots of us, "fun" equates to "interesting." There's a comic about a similar concept, that for a lot of us, "happiness" is less desirable than, or a weaker form of, "interested." To me, he's just saying it's a stimulating job. Don't we all want that?

Which is why 1900s is correct, and someone implying it's wrong, is wrong!
Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
Me and my fellow white people call each other "white trash." That doesn't make it acceptable for an out-group to refer to novels by white people as "white trash books." It would, in fact, be a slur to do that. (I'm sure you've by now drawn the connection to other slurs used by in- and out-groups.)
Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
slur, noun: "an insinuation or allegation about someone that is likely to insult them or damage their reputation" It seems like this is the moment you learn what "slur" means.
Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
But 1999 is in the 1900s???
Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
That sounds classist to me, and exactly what I'm railing against. The use of "fan" to describe work that isn't profitable is gross w/o further justification, which is why using it to describe works by fans of an existing property is not. It arises not out of class but out of the concept of a canon.
Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
But it's the same bigotry in action there: "the establishment" approves, so "it's the default and requires no qualifier." Perhaps I should've used "classism" instead of "slur" to be clearer, but I don't see daylight between being classist and being a bigot.
Kyle Götz (@kylegoetz.com) reply parent
