Ugh. I apologize for my pasty brethren. Some of us are such knuckle-dragging, toothless, lazy, selfish, useless wastes of skin.

You know, I believe that hate & racism are learned behaviours and as we get older they become a choice. The fact that you see the injustice and systemic racism means you have empathy & intelligence. Two things society is short of at this moment.
That’s very kind of you to say. I believe that as well, that they are learned behaviors. When I was very young my mom took me to see A Hiding Place. It’s about the holocaust. It shaped my thinking about how we treat each other. I believe we have more to offer each other if we work together.
Oh. My. Goodness. Corrie Tenboom, correct?! Saw it too during my k-12 "Christian" upbringing.
Yes, that’s the one. I was 6 and she really wanted to see it, so she packed a Barbie and some quiet toys for me and we went. I was riveted by the story, and the fact that there had been such cruelty made a huge impression on me. I never forgot it.
Me too. I don't know how old I was, but I am 60+, and will never forget it!
My mom married a black man when I was a kid, her third husband and another unfortunate disaster. But I was embraced by a loving family who took a shy little girl and made me feel safe and loved. My new grandma was a great cook, a very sweet soul, and a kind person. So much of her love shaped me too.
You sound beautiful inside & out! So happy that you were embraced by a loving family!
Me too. Broke my heart when she died. She was the glue that held them together though, and my mom divorced her son, so we moved on. Years later I was in nursing school and ran into a cousin from that family and we reminisced for a while. It was great to reconnect.
Your remark deserves a follow! Thank you!
This pasty skinned WASP is right there with you.
As well as a WASP (need an edit button)
Although being "pasty" skinned as well, I do have a little bit of my mom's Swedish blood to give me a little color during the summer ☀️
It’s embarrassing, right?
