I do think kpdh does work in part because it has to both invent a time where k pop groups weren't run like nightmare orgs that turns youth into capital and has to invent a reason for them to exist the does not play into global capitalism desire for infinite consumption.

I may be biased against it, as I am most children's media that becomes inexplicably huge with adult audiences. But I feel Moore's central critque against superheroes works here as well. A love of nostialgiac bread and circus does tend to lead even (little f) fascism.

The idea that there was a simpler, better time, before "they" got in the way. They being a stand in for any minority. The idea that our childhood idols ARE real and they are having life or death fights to save our world. And they are just like us, but special.

Moore uses luck to refer to heroes. They were lucky to find the magic ring. They were lucky to be born into an ancient lineage of demon hunters that need YOUR love to win. It is both trite and insidious in what it tells people.

YOU can't be a hero, but you will know them when you see them and you should give them all the support possible. They will be everything you wish you were.

But again, I may just be overtly critical. It might be fine. Meaning nothing more than bright lights reminding us that we need to always be on alert for our enemies. They disguise themselves as us so we must be ever vigilant and ready to call for help.
