That Rod Stewart interview is a classic of the "Long-established rich & privileged person being carefree candid without a conception of how it might land" genre. But not all his opinions are so terrible as the Garage one.

"I'm extremely wealthy and I deserve to be". Nothing like a bit of humility is there?

I know, but that was 54 years ago. If we aren't going to allow people to learn & change them we might as well just fight to the death now.
Fair point.
It's difficult. Maybe Rod Stewart still believes in racist rhetoric, idk
Ongoing challenge of the past 100 years is how people react to immigration in the UK. 3 camps roughly: A. Racists + xenophobes B. People who aren't really A. but worry about scant resources being shared by more people C. People who welcome immigrants (+ more public services) Austerity unites 1 + 2
Helpful. Obvs, I am in C.
Me too. But there are a lot of people in B, far more than in A, and they have swallowed the RW bullshit narrative that immigrants are the reason Britain is shit, not Austerity (or Brexit). Sadly we seem to lack politicians and media willing to really explain all that.
Often, because, we are told, they are swing voters, and therefore their vote is much more prized than, say, mine.
I'm not excusing it, btw.
oh that autocarrot is vexacious
I did wonder what he had against garage music for a minute...
