I have no clue what’s going on with the guy, but can I just say I wouldn’t put it past them to encourage fevered speculation that they will eventually demonstrate to be untrue?

Kate Middleton is a blueprint, if that’s what’s going on. Speculation was building, she could easily have set the rumors to rest but didn’t, and after a little while made a video. And the people speculating were seen by everyone else as ghoulish conspiracists.

I think if he were to convince people he was actually fine (to be clear, I think he really does have very serious health issues and that’s why this all started), we would look like ghouls for focusing on his death (to be clear, we’re not ghouls, we are fans of democracy).

I find it difficult not to hate him tbh. Everything about him personally and most definitely politically is worthy of scorn and derision. I find no redeeming quality in him as a person. The only thing I can muster is a hint of pity for what he will see after his last breath.

Maybe. But unlike Kate Middleton, nobody speculating about Trump can be made to feel bad about it. We do not want him to come back, and when he does we will be disappointed, not ashamed of how we acted or what we said in his absence.
