I'm happy to share that I'm very fond of my union, @leounionumich.bsky.social! They are the best union I've been a member of and their hard-fought gains give me higher pay, greater job security, and access to excellent resources

It is no surprise that the worst teaching jobs I've had (Madonna University because is paid less than $500 a term and Appalachian State because I taught a 5/4 load with 2/3 private students on top of the classroom work) were not unionized

My main gig in my adjuncting years wasn't unionized (full-time faculty was, which creates a fun "looking down on adjuncts is pro-labor" dynamic), and when I briefly had another one at a university where full-time and adjunct faculty were unionized together, I made three times as much per credit hour

Go Unions! I was proud to be a Teamster when I worked at Liberty Music (the world's first record store, behind Saks). Our Local boss would visit us once a month, 'How's management treating youz guyz lately...' and he was one intimidating dude. Dental coverage for a $6 an hour job.😍
